Unlike Dr. W. Afton, I will not be coming back to That's Not My Neighbor.

I was very excited to play this game—especially when I saw it was listed for only $3. I’m a huge fan of anything creepy and loved the concept of acting as the barrier between tired residents coming home and doppelgängers trying to doppel up a gang of humans. However, after a short initial playthrough of the campaign, I quickly realized that the game’s repetitiveness—and its lack of story, content, or really much of anything—felt like going to McDonald’s late at night only to discover they’d just re-fried old nuggets and fries so they wouldn't have to clean the oil again.

None of the endings had real cutscenes or gave the impression that much effort had been put into them. The homeless man who asks nonsensical math problems (which can’t be solved without a guide—what’s the point of them??) gives a “reward” that adds absolutely nothing to the game. Yet he continues to show up every day, even if you’ve already answered his questions once. The same goes for the mildly seductive horror clown who forces you to play a card game I still don’t understand. You can win just by spam-clicking cards until something works—and when you inevitably win, nothing happens! No story, no unique additions, just a recurring, unavoidable, bland card game. Even giving the player a fidget tool for their workspace would have at least provided a small sense of progression.

The gameplay itself is very simple, and after one or two playthroughs, it becomes second nature to know what to look for. You can pretty much breeze through each level. If there had been more to the interrogation mechanics, or additional steps to trip you up, I might’ve remained more interested. But at the end of the day, the game is only $3, so I can’t complain too much.

That said, the Nightmare Mode and the unique wanted poster characters were the highlight of my time with this game. There were lots of interesting and cryptic-looking skins, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing each of them for the first time.

If the story and characters had more depth, maybe my opinion would’ve been different. Trying to 100% this game, however, felt like eating bad pizza with your lactose-intolerant girlfriend: starts off mediocre, ends up smelling like regret. The wanted posters achievement made me wish I had a doppelgänger of my own—just to force them to restart the level for hours until I got the posters I needed. Though honestly, a party pack of Twisted Tea would have a nightmare seeing two of me coming.

I wouldn’t recommend this game to others, but if you have a few bucks and an hour to kill, it could serve its purpose. Just don’t be surprised when you hear those same gargling sounds in your sleep.

it was very meh- Dont get me wrong it was okay but kind of boring no thrill and not much that comes with the game you will play this for almost a hour and never play it again i promise you. it was cheap so not too bad cool concept honestly am not saying you should not buy it but personally i got bored quickly and i have played so much better for cheaper if you like a chill game with not much action and you like checking papers then it is more up your ally.

I've got a thing for quirky games and this ticks all the right boxes for me. Doppelgangers are trying to take over the world. Disguising themselves as humans, they will try to deceive you into letting them inside.
Playing as the doorman of an apartment building, you have to verify the identity of people trying to gain entry to the building and decide to let them in, turn them away or call the D.D.D to arrange for a "removal".
If a doppelganger gets in, they will murder residents in the building.
It's not always as simple as "Oh he's got an extra nose, doppelganger!"
Sometimes the appearance is an exact match, the provided I.D card is perfect but maybe the seal on the entry request is off. You have to be very thorough if you want the residents to survive. I'm really enjoying this game and hope to see more from this developer.
