OK, this is a super deep economy sim. It is also a single-player space combat sim.
HOWEVER, it is not an RTS space combat sim.
I say that with much disappointment. I has a lot, A LOT of depth in the economic aspects of space domination. But it simply has terrible ship combat AI. Useless really. The computer combat AI will do the most stupid ♥♥♥♥ imaginable. The ONLY way to achieve fleet victories is to put the game on pause and carefully maneuver your ships one at a time. Otherwise, the combat AI will only perform the most simple of tasks, anything requiring any tactical consideration will be completely ignored I'm sorry to say. It all looks glorious as your ships perform the most stupid maneuvers and fly right at the enemy.
Couple this with an UI/UX interface that is one of the worst I've used. In most simplistic terms, the interface and controls fight you every step of the way. Very, very little is intutive. These aspects seemingly have been imagined by Microsoft rejects, which is saying something. I have 20 years experience working in complex graphic programs like Photoshop and After Effects and some 3D work. Learning this interface will require dozens of hours and then will make it even more difficult on you when you start having to manage more than a couple of stations and a small fleet of ships.
Some aspects are very fun, and there are moments that are awesome. But as soon as you are trying to make elaborate workflows or coordinate a fleet of ships in battle, you will have to scum-save your games because you clicked on something you should not have, or worse, you forgot to tell an entity to stop doing something you had asked it to do 15 minutes ago. It really will drive you nuts. Which is a shame, because some parts are so fun and it has so much potential.

The AI of this game in unuseably awful, capital ships will either dither about out of formation 5 kilometers away from the actual fight getting ruined by a cloud of figthers, or will charge headfirst into the station at mach 1 and get ruined by it's defensive emplacements ignoring the stay at range command, Instead of fixing it despite wide complaints, Egosoft just blames the players for "not using orders properly".

This game is better than Elite Dangerous, Eve Online and Starfield put together.

Great open world Sandbox game. but my word it has the hardest learning curve combined also. If you can get over that hump which for me was around a day you'll be set for an amazing time. The trading is fun and you can build your own empire or fleet. But if you rather just explore and leave the daily grind of credit rat race just get yourself a small ship and just go sight seeing.
