Ikora leaned across the table, palm pressed firmly against the brushed aluminum surface.

'Guardian.' Her voice was as even as ever but the severity of her posture betrayed a well of emotion underneath. 'What are you fighting for?'

Cayde spared her a glance for a moment, keeping his mouth shut. Even he knew when not to interfere.

'Loot? Glory? Duty? I once fought for myself and only myself. Everything I learned was to further my own existence. After a century or two, things change. You start to see what greed does to the soul. To the Light.' Ikora pulled back, her gaze drifting uncertain over the charts and maps covering the space between you. 'If you learn nothing else from me, take this with you: the only truly worthy battle is one fought for others. Next time you pick up a rifle, let love guide your hand.'
