My name is Alex, and I like to play games. That's pretty much it! You came all this way for practically nothing! Just kidding. You came here for something, though I don't know what.

I'm currently on Hiatus from streaming, but when I get back, you can catch me live on Twitch @ the Prizma Network! [www.twitch.tv]

Additionally you can join my related Discord [discord.gg] server and YouTube channel to find out when I'm streaming, and to also catch streams and Highlights after they air!

Thanks, and Have Fun!

9,441 Hours played
Alright boys, 9 years in the bag, lets GOOOOOO

So, allow me to preface this new review by addressing a few things.

First, is Tower Unite still in early access?? Yes. However, the team is now working on polishing and much-needed focus areas in preparation to leave early access. It may take some time, but that doesn’t mean you should sleep on this game.

Second, Does the game run buggy/poorly? Not really. Sure, you may see reviews talking about “bad performance” and everything, but a majority of that comes down to people trying to run the game on a poor setup, or without optimal settings. Most gaming PCs nowadays should be able to run TU with little issue, and what performance issues remain are the result of the Unreal Engine itself, rather than anything else.

Lastly, How can you know I’m not bullshitting you? Listen, if the 9300+ hours on the tag doesn’t say much, Idk what will. I can only speak from my perspective, and I’ve watched Tower Unite grow and develop into something far greater than I could have ever hoped for when I first bought it on Christmas of 2016. This game is fun, it can be chill, and there’s a pretty sizable community of folks who are, for the most part, honestly really nice.

To rehash a point I made in my very first review: There are games that focus on combat. There are games that focus on exploration. There’s those that focus on a story, or a mechanic, or honestly just giving you the ability to screw around with your friends. Tower Unite is one of those games, those rare few games, that focuses on actually having fun.

And to add to that, Let me summarize the three main sections we have in the game:

THE PLAZA
The Plaza is TU’s hubworld, in a sense. You can join here to meet up with your friends, play some games, watch some movies, gamble, party, or really just vibe. The Plaza is an open, diverse location filled with things for everyone, such as:
  • Recurring events, such as visiting characters or small minigames, as well as seasonal events
  • The Gameworld Ports, where you can access and queue for the main gameworlds with friends or random passerby, or join games currently being played by others.
  • A Bowling Alley, where you can queue up with 3 other players to try and see who can sink as many gutterballs as possible.
  • A sun-drenched, tropical beach, as well as a large community pool featuring a waterslide that'd make Emperor Kuzco proud.
  • A Laser Tag Arena, where you can queue up with a bunch of players to engage in fun, tactical FPS combat in a blacklight-lit, multi-story arena.
  • The Warp Zone Arcade, where you can cash in units for Tokens and play on a variety of arcade games based off real-life ones, like coin pushers, stacker games, and the dreaded piano tiles game!
  • A classic Movie Theater with working Screens that can show Youtube videos, as well as rentable private theatres that can be enjoyed with friends!
  • A large, expansive boardwalk, featuring Carnival-style games, as well as a fully functional Roller Coaster, Ferris Wheel, and Bumper Car arena!
  • A Casino, featuring Slot Machines, Card game tables, Roulette Tables, Virtual games, and an entire Bingo Room!
  • The Dark Voyage, a shooting gallery ride where you traverse through time to battle spooky, scary ghosts and monsters!
But enough about the Plaza! We should address the other key sections of the game, such as:

THE GAMEWORLDS
The Gameworlds are the main minigames that TU features. They’re all widely diverse, and feature something for everyone, such as:
  • Minigolf, where you and your friends can play on a variety of themed, diverse courses ranging from a classic gimmicky Minigolf Park, to a high-tech Space-themed course, to even a land made of the sweetest desserts!
  • Ball Race, where you can compete for the best times on various themed obstacle courses by rolling around in customizable orbs towards the finish line!
  • Lil Crusaders, a unique game where you play as a group of knights trying to defend the land against a villainous dragon with an unfortunately obvious weak spot!
  • Virus, a Fast-paced FPS experience similar to the gamemode of the same name from games like COD. One player each round becomes an infected Zombie, and is tasked with infecting everyone before the time is up! Can you survive with your randomized, diverse arsenal of weapons?
  • Zombie Massacre, an Arcade-style Zombie shooter where you and your friends can play as 1 of 6 classes to combat the endless hordes of the undead across a number of locations!
  • Slaughterday Night Live, a PVP Battle arena game featuring a variety of gamemodes such as arcade, Gungame, CTF, Oddball, and specialty weapon modes!
  • Accelerate, A Kart-Racer game where you can race your friends in a Mariokart-esque experience on a diverse set of racetracks!
There are also some Gameworlds that are planned for future release, such as:

  • Planet Panic, a CTF-style game where you play as a team of either alien cats or alien dogs, trying to recover and retain more power orbs than your opponents!
  • Horror Hill, a spooky, multiplayer Ghost-hunting game!

Playing these games, as well as most of the Plaza Activities, will earn you Units, which you can then spend in the various Plaza stores for the a variety of furniture items, as well as fun gimmicky tools and toys, which leads into the last of the major sections of the game:

THE CONDO
The Condo serves as your own private domicile to hang with friends or other players in a more comfortable abode. The items you purchased in the Plaza can be placed down in your condo to decorate it in any way you see fit, and with such a wide variety of items, you can build almost anything!. You can also purchase other condo maps, such as (but not limited to):
  • The Suite, a Small, cozy Loft apartment that is a 1-to-1 recreation of the Suites from Gmod Tower, Tower Unite’s predecessor! If the Condo is too big for you to handle, the Suite may be a cozier option!
  • The Smooth Dirt, a flat, expansive plane, not unlike the old GM_Flatgrass, which is suited for more adventurous custom builds!
  • The Highrise, a large Penthouse complex resting atop a skyscraper, featuring a classic, art deco vibe and a wide range of open space to work with!
  • The Art Studio, a small, niche space designed for folks who want someplace to make or showcase their various arts and other media!
  • The Courtyard Villa, a spanish-style Villa mansion situation on a private island that features full customizability for a wide range of builds!

In addition, Condos also have a feature called the Condo I/O system, which allows you to connect items together to create more complex builds, such as a fully controllable RGB light system, cinematic event triggers, or even complex machines like elevators or custom security doors!

CLOSING THOUGHTS
With 9 years of love, dedication, and effort under its belt, Tower Unite is a fantastic game and MMO experience, and with what features are planned for the future, it has the potential to outshine other games like VRchat in what social experiences it can offer. I also owe TU as the inspiration for my career path as an artist and content creator, so if you really want the best social game experience Steam can offer, then get this game. You won’t be disappointed.

Sincerely,

Unfortunately not at the moment, as I've kinda left the TF2 sphere of influence, however I *may* be starting it back up at some point this year

Apologies for the late response. I'm currently not doing commissions at the moment, as I fell out of doing stuff in TF2. I thank you, however, for reaching out and being interested.
