KATHY RAIN is a gem of adventure, mystery and deduction that holds a deep story and a wealth of depth as you progress through each difficult day.

As Kathy, a rebelious young woman, returns to her home to lay her grandfather to rest, she slowly uncovers secrets to her family's secrets, her grandfather's demise, and her own fragile psyche. Aboard her trusty chopper, locations are introduced, new clues emerge, and Kathy delves deeper into the mystery of what happened to her family.

It's all rather pedestrian if it wasn't done so damn well. Kathy's interactions with her grandmother, a dubious religious organization, a drunken ex-thespian, a wealth of flowers and a red man of questionable origin lead to often bizarre and oddball elements that will lead one to Kathy's ultimate end.

While the typical point and click elements are in play, there is not much that doesn't yield a result that will undoubtedly be added to Kathy's notebook and available for further exploration later on. There are a number of backtracks, but none are deal breakers, as Kathy's hearty chopper bounces one from location to location in very short order. That said, there are times where the Steam community's walkthru is almost a must have; one may find themselves at a crossroads of where to go. I could not have finished had it not been for the walkthrough to relieve hours of tedium trying to push through to the next proper location.

There is nothing within KATHY RAIN that would not preclude me from granting it a high recommendation. The cool 90's graphics and local, great vocal work, and eventful story are all to be heralded among a drab redux of Myst clones or storyless puzzle adventures. KATHY RAIN has a story to tell, and it is recommended that you lend an ear...
