It took me a really long time to decide to buy this game.

I would often read the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but I really did not dig the artstyle at all. Furthermore, for some reason I was not really into the idea of a roguelike deckbuilder, I don't know why...
Anyway, one day the game was on discount and I had some extra credit on my steam account, so I decided to buy it.

Boy, was I wrong! This is one of the most addictive games I have ever played. It took me ~7 years to play this masterpiece! I just beat act iv on all characters and I am now starting the Ascension mode of the game.
I cannot recommend this game enough! The gameplay is exactly what I love in a game: easy to learn but hard to master. Additionally, the gameplay loop is addictive making you to want to finish your run, no matter if you win or loose.

Like in every roguelike, RNG is a major part of the game. Nevertheless, the mobs and bosses are almost never impossible to beat, they are completely fair. One only looses if they make questionable decisions in their card rotations, relics, paths etc... This does not mean that the player has to follow a specific/narrow path to victory. There are a plethora of ways/builds in which you can beat the game.

I recommend this game to everyone, no matter if you like deckbuilders or not. This game is a steal even at full price!

Extra reasons why I love this game:
1) Lot's of community mods for infinite replayability.
2) Works flawlessly on Linux/Steam Deck
3) Slay the Spire 2 will use the free and open-source game engine, Godot.
4) I now actually love the artstyle

An amazing sequel. It improves upon the original game greatly both in level design and in making boss fights harder (however mobs and platforming are both easier which is both a plus and minus)
Additionally the new weapons mechanics/ upgrades, spells and items make the game more
If you enjoyed the original game then this is a must buy!

Phenomenal game, which needs a sequel ASAP!
My only complaints are:
1) Markers on the map could be a bit more clear.
2) When exploring, stun-locks and pushbacks into instadeath spikes can be very frustrating.

Gets very repetitive, very fast!
The only reason I am recommending it is because it has a native linux port.
A sequel with more gameplay mechanics would make this game a lot more interesting.

I appreciate many aspects of this game: the puzzles, the exposition and the narrative. However, what put me off was the physics to get on a ledge for a specific puzzle (lvl 4 star). The only way you can get this star is by jumping on a ledge and climbing over one of the rooms. While this is a smart and very "out of the box" approach, the bad physics implementation demotivated me from wanting to solve this puzzle, and as a result finish the game - since I suspect there are similar hacks that might be needed for other stars.
Nevertheless, I highly recommend this game and I might pick it up again in the future.

I love the ethos and art style of this game.
However, the controls are very clunky - especially if you are using a controller. Hence, the controls make it hard for me to finish the game.

Nevertheless, I 100% support the devs that made the game.

This is a good continuation from the cliff hanger of HL2.
