TL;DR:
Wonderful platformer worth the money for just the main campaign alone. Brutal difficulty post-game. Terrific soundtrack. Lots of secrets.

"You can do this"
A message to start you off at the near beginning of the game proves to be at the core of this title. Madeline, our young protagonist, has to face the difficult task of not only climbing Celeste mountain, but also overcoming her challenges from within. You'll be journeying with Madeline to help her see it through. In a story that can so easily be done wrong in so many ways, this portrayal of anxiety, self doubt, and fear are handled with a care and understanding that is rarely seen in any media. Nothing is force-fed. It's there for the narrative, not to lecture you.

As a player, you too will find yourself challenged in this carefully crafted platformer. It may seem hard and, to some, impossible, but you can do this. Don't give up. Don't turn back. You can do this. You'll have 8-directional movement, a jump, and a dash. It's how you use them along with the tools in the world that will see you and Madeline to the top of Celeste. The tools/mechanics that are present in this game are well paced. They introduce you to their function in simple ways, ask you to use them in more complicated ways, then in conjunction with other, newly introduced world mechanics in increasingly complicated way until you're done with that chapter, and onto a new chapter with new mechanics.

This game is every bit a joy to play as much as it is a fun time learning the ropes. It certainly helps that the soundtrack is every bit as well put together as the levels are, ranging from soft, calming tunes to ones that ramp up with the intensity of the obstacles. The music compliments the gameplay but it doesn't only sound good with the game. It's a solid soundtrack when listening to it seperately too! I particularly enjoy Resurrections. It takes a moment to get going but it's a banger of a track.

Celeste is worth every dollar for the main story. For the hardcore, platforming purist out there, there's far more game in here to play through in the form of the post-game B-Sides among other things I won't spoil. Celeste is a mountain I want to climb again and again and again, so much so that I want a Switch just to have this game on that platform too. For a more casual audience and for the hardcore alike, Celeste is a climb worth taking. Enjoy your stay.

Turbo Kid <3

This film went from being just something I chose to watch in passing while browsing Netflix, to something I have bought several copies of. It is one of my favorite movies of all time.

In this accurately described "Mad Max on BMX bikes" thrill ride, you'll be transported to a world ravaged by nuclear war where water is scarce and Michael Ironside rules with...an iron fist (heh). Only an unassuming kid turned hero can oppose him with the help of the friends he meets along the way, bringing back an ounce of normalcy to the world and several liters of water to the people in need.

This oddball movie does not take itself seriously and neither should you. It's a light-hearted, romantic bloodfest about a kid becoming his childhood hero while taking down the childhood memory that haunts him.

"Aventure is out there" is a line quoted from the movie UP. This movie not only brings with it a sense of adventure, a feeling that the world they are in is actually tangible for you, the viewer, but also a bit of that Disney Magic. It has that feeling of innocence, of heart, and then someone gets their eye socket jammed-in with a screwdriver, and suddenly all is right with the world again.

Now, I'd be remiss if I just glossed over the obvious 80's retro vibe this movie bleeds. From the outfits, the title card, the music, and even the feel. The only way I can describe the feel is what you feel when you watch Robocop, Terminator, or Predator. You just know you're in for a good time. If you like the 80's, this movie will make sure you're taken care of.

I really don't know what else to say. Don't think this is some chick flick just because there's some romance. It definitely is not. It's a charming movie, filled with buckets of blood, humor, cheese, and a dash of romance. There is so much to it I haven't talked on. There is so much charm. My review definitely doesn't do this movie justice.

I have bought the 3 disk collectors edition, the standard steelbook edition, the 2 different SteelArchive German imports, a VHS edition, the standard edition, and several digital editions on top of multiple shirts too. When I have a bad day, I watch Turbo Kid. It really is magical. It is action packed. It is sad. It is funny. It is a very good movie that kind of just came out of nowhere.

Do I recommend this product? If I could choose but one movie in my life, this would be what I would recommend to you.
