It's not just your guide, every guide i found mentions the same thing and i was just like, why... Protontricks can do all that without renaming the executables, just select the game's prefix and run the patches. :P I guess they were all made when either protontricks wasn't a thing, or wasn't well known.

Your guide works, it's just a bunch of unnecesary file renaming, it's faster to do that with protontricks. :) It's the same end result. I also applied the bugfix from your guide so that was super helpful!

Thanks for the info on protondb to run sacred 2 better. I will be changing my guide as you were spot on it was overcomplciated after trying protontricks for the first time. Just going to backup my saves and go for it.

Initially I made the guide as people were struggling on reddit and there didn't seem to be anything actually helpful for people to easily figure it out that are not familiar with protontricks at least.

As it happens I am half Croatian though I cannot speak the language and lived in the UK all my life

https://test-steamproxy.haloskins.io/discussions/forum/1/3044985412478879052/#c3044985412480110979 it's failed becouse you don't insert windows media, from where was istalled your current OS (it MUST be same build \ redaction) and sfc can't fix anything, if sfc database broken and/or sfc subsistem broken\infected - better made 2 boot usb: 1 with linux live, 1 with latest W10 - use linux for backup userdata, test ram, ssd\hdd surface and full erase (at least, system ssd\hdd) - if filesystem or disk broken\infected it waste of time fix througth sfc or dism - backup - erase - test - clean install will be much faster and more reliable result. check rum than ssd \ hdd than erase ssd and test - if there still errors... better, buy new if you can
