You've surely already seen, experienced, or owned something that you apprehended, hated, contemplated, admired, and... loved, all in just a few moments? A few hours? Despite its flaws and weaknesses, you were surprised by its beauty...

As a sequel, a lot has been improved, and we feel more connections, discussions, and humanity life in this new game. The characters have faces, affinities, and personalities. We're no longer limited to the holograms that were the major source of lore in the prequel. Among the additions we can talk about climbing, which is both interesting and detestable : some walls, especially the first ones you encounter, are very poorly optimized and misleading. They'll make you believe you can plant your axes or catch yourself if you fall, but this isn't the case, and it will cause you to die quite a few times. This is clearly the most frustrating thing I encountered in the game, and it made me hate a certain section as well as a speedrun achievement. Fortunately, aside from the rocks, the ice walls and other structures are reliable, and the climbing mechanics are interesting and not bad.

The character animations have been improved but are still... quite strange at times, like some character designs that could have been improved a bit more. The lack of real faces on some important characters in the story and the lore is quite sad, even if it maintains a sense of mystery.

Despite these flaws, the first moments are well-writed, with important characters developments that's quite interesting. Then comes the moment that completely turned me upside down : the space mission. Between the takeoff, the immersion with the commands and launching sequences, the atmosphere with the different astronauts, and above all... the view of Earth from orbit ! With the graphics settings set quite high, I simply fell in love with the view ! Although the gameplay was quite brief, the time spent in space orbit left me... I don't know how to describe it... except that I stayed there admiring the view for a few hours.

The story is simply excellent, like Deliver Us the Moon, its predecessor. In the same vein, with improvements and more humanity, as mentioned previously. The Martian environment is also very well done and magnificent, the stations are quite vast and offer quite different experiences each time. The puzzles are still present and enjoyable. The parkour is quite well done, except for some previously mentioned moments, unfortunately. And the ending... I prefer to say nothing and let you discover it (it's worth it!)

I highly recommend it for anyone who loves space, touching and dramatic stories, and puzzles ! Despite its flaws, Deliver Us Mars will remain one of the games that has touched me the most, like Deliver Us the Moon, by its simplicity, its beauty, its story and its landscapes.
