20 Apr, 2013 XCOM: Enemy Unknown Game and DLC Bundle Pre-Purchase NA Retail

My very first game on steam.

As a matter of fact that I never heard of steam until I brought my copy of XCOM from game store and found out it require steam to install. Maybe I have seen steam program before though computer cafe from playing counter striker but it's XCOM that really shown me the wonderful world of online purchasing and from that day forward it created a big money sink hole in my wallet.

X-com was one of those retro game serie like no other. Everything was revolutionary with pure pressure of intense strategy that keep switching between turn based and real time. One tiny mistake and you could lose a team member, a whole team and even cause you to lose the entire game. It gave me pressure and joy like no other. Every encounter, every landing, every base, every air battle, every Month is a triumph or sorrow. It broke my heart that I found out that MicroProse close down and X-com was no more.

So when new XCOM was release and as a member of the cult I rejoiced and played this game. It gave me the same intense feeling of combat and I had to bring my serious game face on when playing ironman to avoid making mistakes just like when I was play the original X-com.

This was great and meant a lot to me. This is a completely different game with just a bit simularity and most of the game mecanic is vastly different. There are things like cover, hunker down, graple and with DLC, Meld, Modification they are all very good new concepts. Though all the old and new it revived one of my favorite game serie of all time. That is a very rare and successful case in the history of gaming.

I love just about everything about this game. Since I brought XCOM on steam 2013 I have now increased my library to over 5000 games yet The graphics, The Music, The concept, The gameplay, The Intense action brings XCOM together to be one of my favorite game on steam. The only thing that's semi lacking still is the storyline but like original X-com it's really not that important.

9.9/10 and cheers to old classic and new favorite.

PS: wow.. Just realize I forgot to review this. Anyhow getting close to getting 100% achivements so it's a really good time to review anyways.
