Description
It's been a long road since I started this project shortly before Left 4 Dead 2 came out, but I'm happy to share with you my custom campaign: Day Break!

Campaign Description:
The survivors must escape San Francisco before the military bombs it! After their helicopter crashes on the roof of Day Break Inn & Suites, the survivors must make their way out of the city, across the Golden Gate bridge, and hopping on a boat to Alcatraz for rescue.

The survivors pass by many real-world places and landmarks on their way. While I have tried to be as true to the real San Francisco as possible, I have had to take some liberties with the area to make it suitable for Left 4 Dead 2 co-op and versus gameplay. That being said, I have tried to be as detailed and accurate as possible when it comes to landmarks (which include The Palace Of Fine Arts, Fort Point, The Golden Gate Bridge, The Lime Point Lighthouse, and Alcatraz Island) using all the resources available to me.

This is a five map campaign, designed and play-tested for co-op, versus, survival, and scavenge game modes, and with a scavenge-style finale with a few added quirks.

NOTE: Turn instructor hints on for guidance on what to do during the panic events & finale. Additionally, if you have a photosensitivity or aversion to dramatically changing colors used in the easter eggs, try subscribing to this optional addon: Easter Egg Visuals Remover.

Version 4 Update:
Version 4 is now released, bringing new content from the Last Stand Update, new community content, and many changes based on your feedback over the years! Feel free to leave more feedback in the comments & discussions section, I make a point of reading each of your comments and replying when I can! Keeping your comments civil, descriptive, and constructive helps me the most in making this campaign the best that I can make it!

One of the reasons I keep playing Left 4 Dead 2 is mods. If I can't play with mods installed, there's no point, no matter how fascinating the custom campaign is. Any custom campaign that can't coexist with mods is just a rogue, and there are more good custom campaigns than this one.

It is a pretty good and funny map, with lots of nostalgia too, and like tons of people said, I think it should be reoptimized again, the engine is so old that it crash if i have some mods installed and it's quite annoying, and it's sad to not being able to play it normally.
After all, good map and keep the effort!

Jesus, what a nightmare. It's a good concept, but the execution is pretty poor.

I get that it's a zombie apocalypse and that the city is being bombed, but the streets are soooooo convoluted with vehicles that it just becomes a chore to get to the next block. You either go over or around 2 or 3 things every few seconds. Some kind of suspension of belief should be here. Give me 30-40 cars across the entire bridge, not all in one spot. It also messes with the bots to an extreme degree. They just... Do nothing. Even when right next to the player.

The finale is such an eyesore, too. Having to collect so much gas over such a large range is quite literally insane. And it's not just a lot of distance, it's up and down 3 different floors. It's entirely too easy to run out of ammo or get boxed into an extreme situation.
