Getting Still Life Working in 2020
By le09idas
This guide will show you how to run Still Life in 2020 on Windows 10 using the DXWnd application. The impetus being that most of the guides for setting this up via that utility are outdated. This guide will just get Still Life up and running smoothly but you should consult other guides (one of which I have included in this guide) to get the best visual experience.

DXWnd
I am currently using the latest version of DXWnd to run the Still Life application. The current version can be downloaded from the following link:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/

Here is a picture for reference:

DXWnd Profile
After installing DXWnd, you can go ahead and from the edit tab on the top of the page on the starting window, click Edit > Add.

You will be brought to a new window and to the first tab called Main. Here you can name the DXWnd profile and set the paths for the executable as shown below. Also ensure that your window looks like the one below:

Note: Point to the Game.exe and not the StillLife.exe (this is the launcher).

In the DirectX(2) tab, just pay attention to the VSync section and set it like below:

This was just a guide to get the game running at a bearable pace. If you want to set up the game so that you can get a full screen experience please, use this guide:

Thanks go to Steam users catabridge and Urithor19 for providing the two tips that cleared up some confusion.

Thanks a lot for this guide! While Still Life itself works fine for me, Still Life 2 crashes after the splash screens for me, so I used your guide to fix this! :)
