Welcome to this guide and I hope that it may assist to some degree. Including showing some tricks and tips that are found more so on the forums and other social sites where Ubisoft fans congregate.

I am not sure if some of these tips in the guide will work with other launcher combos, like Ubisoft Connect/EA Origins or Ubisoft Connect/Epic Games. That's how low my confidence level is, though as far as the different pairings are concern, I will be please if this guide is able to get ya out of your tough rut.

This guide is mainly Windows PC centric, but for the time being. I don't know how Mac/Linux/Os and Proton runs things. Same with consoles, I dunno how it runs, I just play the games, I am not thinking in this scope. So, I would need some help or I need to experience for myself going through tech support and other important stuff via console.

Note: Please, let me know when you are having problems with the links, mainly clicking and there's no page or it directs you to a another different page, like different Ubisoft forums, instead of the actual one that ya want to go to. Or if I just made an honest mistake. I am not good at explaining things sometimes, so, click on the "Credits" chapter to see where I got the tips for better explanation.


Unrelated Note
I also want to translate this guide into other languages, but I need way more help and tutorage with that way more than the other guides that I made. Because, if translated incorrectly, that non-English speaker(s) will run into problems or worst, destroy his launcher. So, until I get good with speaking foreign languages or get good help, no translating.

Timed Exclusives

Some features, like certain beta-testings or something extremely cool, are only available to certain countries, like now the Ubisoft Wallet is only for the USA and Canada, earlier Sam's beta-testing was only for Canada. Therefore, this makes my guide mostly NA learning, despite that anyone can use my guide for tips, tricks, and mild troubleshooting. Don't be surprise if this guide "accidentally" doesn't have so-and-so or it goes to one of Jupiter's moons and terraforms it ahead of the other countries.

Download This First: Ubisoft Connect[ubisoftconnect.com]

If you're buying your first Ubisoft game here (or in other third-party launchers), download this version of Ubisoft Connect.
It's regularly fix, tweak, and updated. The version of Uplay that's comes with the game here in Steam will give you a bad time or won't work at all, since it's an older version, mainly as old as the kraken.

To prevent hacking:
Install the Google Authenicator on your iphone/android or if you're a Windows Phone/Nokia user, the Windows Authenicator. These will provide extra layers of security.

For Windows Phone/Nokia users, use the Windows Authenicator, it works similar to the Google Authenicator.

To Prevent Password Amnesia:
Use the Last Pass app and set up an account with them. You won't lose your Uplay account with LP around, it remembers and secures everything.

Ubisoft Connect app
This is an extended form of the Ubisoft Connect in mobile app form. It used to be known as Ubisoft Club and is connected to Uplay, until the rebranding.

Warning for Windows Phone/Nokia Users :
For users of these phones, this version of the Ubisoft Club app currently has a very low rating. Mainly two stars in the Microsoft app store, so proceed with caution or don't download it at all, because people are complaining and warning that it doesn't work well or worst, it crashes.

Steam app

Download this to your iphone, ipod, or ipad. Same if you're using android phones or tablets, if you so chose. It's mainly for security reasons.
If you're using Windows Phones/Nokia, Steam/Valve silently release the official version in the Windows store and works just as well as its iphone/other android cousins (Why didn't they announce this good news, is beyond me).


Google Authenicator Not Syncing

If you are having trouble with the Google Autehnicator syncing, despite entering the correct log in and authenicator code. Just click on the GA app on your phone and click the upper right hand corner were the three vertical dots, click on the "Time correction for codes", that'll fix the glitch and you'll be able to log in as normal.

Other Secure Methods

One can now use their e-mail as a security measure. Just go to "Account Management" and click on "receive codes by e-mail", then you'll get a log in number to log into your Ubisoft Connect account. This won't require the Google Authenicator app though, so it's less grey hair and worrying about phone transfer issues.

Note / Mild Warning: Your captain just found out about this while fixing her account, its a new feature. It may have some bugs that needs ironing out.

The Flash Drive

Get a flash drive, a big one though, so you can save your treasures, uh, games and said games' save files, just for emergency reasons (like the Navy on you for impersonating a Church of England cleric) or just sailing to that private island to chill.

Some of the ways to solve the Uplay chat loading screen glitch is to reinstall Ubisoft Connect.

After first logging into your account, you'll be greeted by this lovely area. This is were the news will be presented, like developer logs, upcoming games and information about the pre-orders.


Clicking on the Horizontal Bars at the upper left corner will bring up this menu, will give this prompt were one can chose to go offline, toggle the settings, enter special codes and claimed keys.

One of the ways to earn Units is to play games, which you can use to exchange for wallpapers, skins, and other stuff that I'm accidentally omitting. Be aware that they have an expiration date, so, ya have to do them quickly.

Note: For now the Wallet is only in Canada and the USA, be prepared to wait for this QOL.

Ya heard the dang nuisance, his "Bwaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh"-ness is just giving a nutshell summary.


This is a new method that offers another way to buy games, DLC, and other virtual stuff (I think) in the store. It's similar to the GOG's Wallet system.

Note: The mobile app is handy to log into your account, even if you're not gonna play for the day, just to prevent account deletion. Due to Ubisoft, being Ubisoft and things glitching out. Because, if Ubisoft thinks that your account is inactive. They will straight up delete it. Unless, you log into your email and click "cancel" . Before the 30 days are up.

Ubisoft's reasons are because of the "local data protection legistration."

So, check your emails, especially your spam folder. Also, buy a few games and try not to be a freeloader, because you're at a higher risk of getting your account deleted.

This is were you can see the games that ya own, free 2 play games/demos, and .


To get more Units to redeem cool stuff, like wallpapers and skins. Start playing those games that ya own.

Tip: One of the ways Ubisoft can identify to see if you're the legit owner is to ask you to name all of your games in your library.



Concerning profile pictures, you can't run wild, even if ya wanted to. Since, people were uploading crazy stuff, like NSFW and other offensive things. So, sometime in 2022, Ubisoft disabled the pfp feature.


You need a Discord account, because that's where Ubisoft moved their official forums to.

Note: I'm broke, so, I can't afford to do "Ubisoft+" subscription for experimentation for guide purposes.

This is the optional "Premium" experience that Ubisoft Connect has to offer.

With consumables ya have to re-buy it. Despite that you have the subscription. Ubisoft+ only does game and DLCs.


Note: Be aware that the cloud sync works with most of the Ubisoft library, ya can access them save data anytime as long as there's internet connection. The saving progression will only be lost if you unsubscribe and uninstall the game, unless you manually back up your save files.

"The Ubisoft Exception List" are those games that don't support the cloud sync for some reason "The Ubisoft Exception List"[www.ubisoft.com]

These are the tips that one won't find in the main Ubisoft FAQs page, but in both the Steam and Ubisoft forums. So, if I miss some things, just please let me know and I will add it.

When achievements fail to synchronize, it's mainly from the spool files getting corrupted. Just delete them and restart Ubisoft Connect.

If ya see a Nigerian Prince or some weird guys attempting to log into your Ubisoft Connect account, despite having 2FA on. Bare in mine that it may be your email that was breach or that Ubisoft has been compromise kinda, since there's portals and old game apps that don't have 2FA; these are what hackers use to test passwords and their log in attempts show up in Ubisoft's registry as successful.

Ubisoft Plus Is High On American

If you're not from the United States, beware that there's a weird issue, it's that ya have to contact support to cancel and remove your credit/ debit card from it. (I dunno if this is a just a tiny issue that bothers outliners or just a big problem concerning certain non-United States countries).

Payment Failure?

When it comes to buying a game, but then the payment got declined, but then surprisingly getting charged for it. Contact customer support, but if they say that they encountered stupid stuff on their end. Wait for 3 days to get your money back.

Game Not Downloading

Some of the ways to fix this issue, is to uninstall Ubisoft Connect and reinstall it. But first make sure the firewall isn't being overprotective cause of it all and if you must uninstall, be sure ya save your game progress.

Here One Minute, Gone The Next Minute

There's rumors that Ubisoft deletes accounts. Mainly, if a guy doesn't login in a certain amount of time, it's "Coodbye, Ubisoft Connect account." I heard mixed accounts of this happening, since others also stated that they've been gone for centuries, only to find that their Ubisoft Connect account is still intact after all these years.

Some achievements aren't available for certain games, due to accident on Ubisoft's part. One has to wait until they add them to Ubisoft Connect (and they're called "Challenges" instead and will function similarly). This glitch mainly occurs when one upgrades from Uplay to Ubisoft Connect. - However this should be a minor problem, since gamers will usually have the more current version (from the official site) and Ubisoft probably fixed this by now.

Ubisoft Connect has a habit of installing the important stuff into different folders, so, be aware to grab everything (and label them of which folder you got it from) and toss them into your flashdrive. If you're to do a manual transfer to a new computer or something just as serious. (I have issues, since I usually forget to pack one or two files).

To add any additional languages for the older games, ya have to use the Ubisoft Connect's PC version to reinstall the game.

If your Ubisoft Plus glitches out when you're trying to pay for it, like suspended, just switch your payment cards/methods, like use a VISA credit card or Paypal.

This is Ubisoft Connect, not the craft store Jo-Ann's or Michael's, were you can use any sort of coupons/cool deals code on a different store/do some price comparison negotiation. So, if you have the base game on Steam but see a cool sweet deal on Ubisoft Connect for some DLC and you want to use your Units and/or coupon it's not gonna work. - This same is said for whatever launcher Ubisoft games are sold at. (Jo-Ann's allows you to use a Michael's coupon on them and vice versa).

Buying a game from Ubisoft Connect and ya want to refund the game for whatever reason, ya can't. Ubisoft doesn't do refunds. Unlike the third party sellers that they trust.

In a serious case, like your Google Authenicator/Windows Authenicator 2-step/log in password is not working, or worst you've forgotten it or it was stolen by hackers/pirates. Here's what you do, just log into the computer version of your Ubisoft Club account and make your way to the tech support were one can do voice chat or submit a ticket (I don't recommend the latter, since it's queue base, mainly a first come first serve and the line is insanely long). Though if you did submit a ticket and are wondering "What's the hold up?" Do voice chat and tell them that you're stranded in the Isle of Long Queue.

NOTE: Don't log in straight away at the forums, since they'll be asking for the GA passwords and stuff, if ya need to seek customer support there. Instead, log into the main Ubisoft Club website and make your way to the forums or straight to the tech support. I recommend that ya do voice chat, just to avoid the long wait time.



To unlink your Ubisoft account and move it to a different account, for example, ya nix your old Epic Games/Steam/Whatsit account (since ya don't use it often). Ya have to contact Ubisoft Support to help ya with that.

If ya need more help to find the Uplay tech support guys, there's alternatives on where to find them. Like the official Uplay Support in Twitter, and the forums. But also on reddit, I've encounter a few of the tech supports in the r/uplay and I've gotten tips and advise.

Though this is for basic tech support help/ trouble shooting, and a tiny encyclopedia of Ubisoft/Uplay things, like FAQ that talks about issues related to certain games and what is this old thing that's not featured in modern Ubisoft games (i.e. Uplay Passport, an ancient bad thing, it got removed before Black Flag was released).

This has a list of tech support/customer support way more extensive than this guide, it even has some of the support phone numbers.

Note: Ubisoft got rid of their official forms, so, ya need a Discord account to cry for help, do general talk, get hype and such.


This only applies to reddit, though it's a bit shoddy, since the tech support are occasionally in the wild like that, the tech/customer support are mostly seen in Twitter, Facebook, and the official Ubisoft socials. Though you might find an experience Ubisoft fan who will help with questions.

Be Aware That's the support team has weird working hours, especially if one is living in another part of the world or during special holidays (like Christmas). Hence the weird horror stories that I hear of people submitting support tickets and not getting through and other gamers change their nationalities to get decent help.

Ubisoft got rid of it's ALWAYS ONLINE state in September 2012, now it's one-time activations instead. Uplay now has a much needed offline mode, where one can play, and don't worry about the achievements, they will be able to transfer when you go back online.
However the potato severs are still here, even though the always online part is gone and Ubisoft is trying to fix their client. Also, the latter is still glitchy (One time, while I was playing Assassin's Creed 3's multiplayer mode, the server almost disconnected on me).

Some of the always online parts are found in their more current multiplayer games, like For Honor and the Division 2. (I haven't experimented far enough to know if I can still play the single-player story modes offline, unlike with the strictly single-player games, where I can confirm that I can do offline stuff).

Concerning Nu-Uplay

Pros

• The new version of Uplay is now what I call an unfinished building, but there's still good things about it, like playing games offline.
  
  
• What made Uplay a security risk should be gone by now, the tiny proof that I have is that Ubisoft now uses Google Authenicator to help customers keep their games secure. The guy who found the security risks is a Google Information Security Engineer.
  
  
• You don't need Uplay+ to take advantage of all that Uplay has to offer, it's optional. Also, one can cancel the subscription at any time.
  
  Cons
  
  The ever meme-y potato servers are still there and occasionally causes problems.
  
  No Mac, OS, and Linux versions of Uplay, which means that Black Flag isn't for these computers.
  
  Work Hours
  
  The tech support guys have a weird schedule, the only small tips I can give is that they take breaks during holidays, like Christmas, Easter, and Australian Christmas. They'll get back to you in Monday.
  
  Concerning Uplay +
  
  Pros
  This feature is huge, one can own and play most of Ubisoft's library with this, early testing/beta-ing of the client and never been release games. But if that's too pricey for ya, thank the gods that this is optional and one can cancel at anytime.

  According to some gamers, Ubisoft spams people with Uplay+ ads to get them to go "upgrade" from regular free mode to paying for the subscription.
  
  It's on beta-testing mode now (by the time this guide is publish, this will change later on).
  
  This testing is ONLY for PC AND the Google Stadia, not on consoles for reasons that my brain can't compute.

  Both feedback, suggestions, and criticism for Uplay and Sam are in the official Ubisoft forums, where Ubisoft reads most of them (at least, try to read them though), to try and fix their client. Now I’ll tell you where I got the idea and inspiration on this Steam guide. It was from CthulhuToo’s Steam Tutorial series, they help me a lot with navigating Steam and I wanna do the same with Ubisoft's infamous launcher. (It's also, because of my "No one was doing it.")
When Ubisoft gave me free 7 games for their thirtieth anniversary, I was determined to protect what I own and I have to do research, because of three reasons: One, it’s Uplay, Two, it’s U-Can’t-Play, three it’s Ubisoft. So, in my quest to find how to live with Uplay, I didn’t find much on Youtube, there’s a lot of tutorials on how to hack, pirate, and bypass the Steam clone; hardly a vid about legally surviving Uplay that's up to the caliber that's needed. What’s worst is that most of those non-piracy tutorials are outdated by 2018 standards or in a foreign language. I found a bit of a mini-gold mine concerning Uplay in reddit on how to troubleshoot Ubisoft’s infamous client, even how to call tech support (But I had to ask questions and poke around), other than going to the Ubisoft forums. Hence the “Survival Guide”, and I intend to bring these fixes, tips, and so forth out into the open. – Especially, since I don’t expect all of you to make a reddit account and to a degree from your perspective it’s like going to a foreign planet in another dimension.

I dunno if the YouTube series will materialize, since I use Blender to edit the vids and I don't know my way around.
Also, this guide is mainly Steam and Uplay (solo) geared. Unfortunately, consoles are too foreign for me to do.
This is me giving back to the gaming community through a very small way.
