East Coast Main Line

Description
The path of the East Coast Main Line changed a lot during the railway mania of the 1840s, but the final route was owned by 3 companies: Thhe Great Northern Railway, between London King's Cross and Selby (near York), the North Eastern Railway between Selby and Berwick-upon-Tweed, and the North British Railway between Berwick and Edinburgh Waverley.
The Great Northern Railway also built branches off the ECML to Nottingham, Lincoln, Grimsby, Leeds and Bradford, the North Eastern Railway to Hull, Harrogate, Scarborough, Middlesbrough, and Sunderland, and the North British Railway extended the ECML to Glasgow Queen Street, Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen.
The whole line came under the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923 with the grouping into the Big Four. It was then lots of famous expresses, and trains hauling them, were introduced, such as the Flying Scotsman, the Aberdonian, the West Riding Limited, and the Silver Jubilee (pulled by the famous A4 "streaks").
Under the transition to diesel, the ECML lost express services to it's branches, and today only the Lincoln, Hull, Bradford, Leeds and Sunderland branches see frequent trains to London.

This map contains the entire East Coast Main Line from London, through the East Midlands, Yorkshire, and the North East to Edinburgh, and even on to Aberdeen. Plenty more towns are included for all the branches to be built, as well as some extras for local services.
(I will not be making a version of this map with industry, as it's already crowded)

Wait until you find out that Scotland is in fact located on the island of Britain, and the northern part of that island!
