So, You Wanna Be Like Jeff
So, once upon a time, the computer decided to pick you to be the Imp or you've waited so long to be an Imp and you've finally get your chance. But do you know how to be an Imp?

This guide will show some tips, some basic and probably not-so basic tips on how to be an Impostor.

Getting Away With Murder
Now to kill a Crewmate click the Kill button or press Q when once a reddish aura appears radiating off of your victim.

Tips

Be careful about reporting a body, because your fellow Imps keep on using a tactic called "Self-Report", a tactic were they murder and report on "Finding the corpse" a lot to the point that some Crewmate (s) won't trust the caller of the "Emergency Meeting". Rightfully guessing that you are the Imp or incorrectly using their BFF as a sacrifice to an obscure volcanic Polus god.

The Art Of Sabotage
The Green highlights the sabotage button click on it, if you're using your phone or press on the keyboard. This brings out a special map that's only for Imps.

Sabotage Map

This map is touch screen base were you're giving full range of vandalism - Shutting down the lights, the Emergency Button or what I called the "KO timer vandalism" (Which the Crewmate (s) have to repair before the timer reaches zero, if they don't, the Impostor(s) win in one full swoop).

Tip:

Go to a vacant room that's least likely for a Crewmate to enter and whip out your tablet to do a bit of vandalizing or critical sabotage. This is similar to Shifting.
How Do I Vent Like Jeff?
Now to vent you click on the Vent button or press E (Or the Spacebar) (which I highlighted as Green).

That thing about the cool down is be aware when you're tunneling like that, it makes a huge difference when your kill gauge is filled up or not.

Tip

  • Practice in the Free Play to learn which patterns the vents lead to, so, you won't get lost or stuck.
  • Be careful, since if a Crewmate is cleaning the vent at the other end. You won't be able to travel there or you will be force to take a different path.
  • There's a meme that's so ingrain in the "Among Us" fandom, it's the "I was cleaning the vents." That makes people mostly think "Oh, the vent cleaner is an Impostor! Vote them out!" So be careful with saying that, even if you're joking and trying to lighten the mood. (This even gets Crewmates ejected).
The Hidden Blade

Timing

It's very tricky to do, but when it comes to ghosts doing Visual Tasks (like Asteroids and Medical Scan). Hijack it for the meeting, say that you're clean, since you did them. No one will know that your previous victims done them.
Ghost Club
NOTICE:
Among Us isn't like other games were if you die, you're dead and force to be a spectator, until the next round. But with AU, as an Imposter you can still DO stuff as if you haven't been killed or ejected. Secondly, as a ghost you have more flexibility.

Now these are the overlays that you won't lose when you get killed off, they are always with you.

The Cogs are the settings and the exit button for leaving the game round.

The Map will show you were you're at and what fake tasks that are still remaining.

Remaining Imp Gear

You will still have the tools of your repertoire, like the Sabotage. Though you have to kill in other ways.

Phantom Play
This chapter covers what to do in case your cover is blown. Once you're a ghost, you won't lose these tools. That way you can be the extra eagle eyes pair for your partner.

Remember as a ghost, you can phase through walls and no one can see you. This takes sabotaging to a whole new level: like locking doors so that way Crewmates can accuse each other at the Emergency Meetings, since Crewmate A can't unlock doors and evade the other traps fast enough. This delay will make his peers assume that he's an Imp, due to taking a long time with the Tasks or being the actual murderer at the crime scene. There's a ton to do, like:

  • Trapping Crewmate B in a room with your partner in the same room, like in the Decontamination Room in the Polus Laboratory.
  • Set emergencies in a mostly empty area as frequently as possible, it's better to use this as a distraction to divert the Crewmates from discovering the body, so your partner can get away with murder. (Remember that certain sabotages/Emergencies have long cooldowns). Some of these vandalizing and trapping is better when there's only a few Crewmates, like messing O2, since it'll split them up.
  • Follow your teammate and learn from their victories and fails.
  • Keep on eye on the voting to see were the Crewmates make logical errors.

Note: Be careful with the doors, setting up the Reactors at the first nano-second, since there's a chance that ya might accidentally slow down your living teammate(s), instead of helping them. Which is why one must use common sense and planning.
Monkey See, Monkey Do - 5000 IQ Plays
Watch these channels and playlists, so, you can learn the finesse to do this scene. Why? 'Cause ya learned from the masters.

Some of the best ways to become a better Impostor is to watch others, like the ghost examples earlier. Other ways to get good is to watch streamers, like Corpse Husband, xQc and 5up, learn from them. Since they have 5000 Impostor IQ (Unlike this guide's creator).

These are the channels that focus fully on how to learn how to play as the Impostor (and Among Us) way better than me.

How To Be Like Jeff - Individual Imp Tutorial Vids
Become One With The Kawaii

This is tedious, but to become a better Imp, it's to think like your victim, think like a Crewmate. What better way than to do that than to become one?

The guide featured here will teach you how to become the most adorable yet better Crewmate (Sorry, I can't teach you how to use the "Precious Purity Aura" that's a secret that only Raimu knows and has honed).

Or follow the rumors and this hosting guide just to host a few lobbies, just to increase your Impostor chances.

Color Chances
This fan art just represents most of my game experiences (Just not this sample size).

Now this chapter is based on my games and trying to chart the new colors, the ratio of Imp Color chances are different.

Public

These are the raw results of going through approximately thirty-five or forty rounds.

Note: Take the this with a grain of salt, since this is a small sample and I keep on getting disconnected when playing Public and have to go to a different lobby.

Roles

The Shapeshifting ability can only be toggle on by the lobby host, if he or she wishes. If you're the host, you can make the settings however you want, making the durations on how long the Shapeshifting lasts, the probabilities and roles are all up to you, or you can keep things quiet and a normal game of AU. This chapter is how to utilities the shapeshifting ability.
The Impostor But He Can Shapeshift - Public Lobbies

"He could be you, he could be me,..."

Be aware when using this ability, because of a duration on how long you can impersonate some one. Also, the depending on how things are set up, you may leave clues (or not).

If you want to begin the Egg process, go into a super secluded area that hardly anyone will visit. That's the safest to be in when you pull a Szayel Apollos Granz and emerge as someone else.

Shifting

A Shapeshifter's Tablet
This is the secondary tablet that will appear when you click on the Shift button.
These tablets are all green.
Shapeshifters' Hideouts
Now if you want to Shapeshift look for areas, like these. It's easy to hide your Egg mess in places like these.

The Crewmate (s) would bypass the Imp Egg and won't report. Since, it's hidden.

Places that hardly anyone goes to are perfect examples, like the Skeld's Communication room. No one goes there. Unless, the comm links are sabotage.

Dangerous Trio
The Engineer

One of the Crewmate(s) that you have to be on the lookout for is the Engineer (s), but they have a weakness, they can vent around. During the meetings, you can frame them for being an Impostor .

The Engineer can easily hide in the vents, waiting and watching for you or your partner to mess up.

The Scientist

Don't underestimate this one, a gamer that can utilize this role to it's full potential, can easily deduce which reports are self reports, figure out when a Crewmate's buddy is an Imposter that murdered him a minute later and similar tactics.

Note: I suck at this role.

The Guardian Angel

These spooks are a determent, since their abilities exceed that of normal ghosts. They can cast a protective shield around your victim.

A Rumor: Two gamers, Feast and Ollji, has a theory that if an Angel casts Protect on an Impostor, that person won't be able to kill.

BTS - How To Be Like Jeff

Like the "How To Be Like Raimu" and "Among Us - Be My Guest" guides, these tips are from the Skeld Manual guide and my future experiences. I will continue updating as I go by. The reason why I said that this guide will be "competitive-ish" it's because I occasionally lurk in r/amonguscompetitive (I still suck as an Imp, despite learning there. Due to inexperiences).
