Cultist Expansion: Oracle of Tzeentch

In 1 collection by Alshua
Cultist Expansion: Full Series
7 items
Description
Adds the Cult Oracle, a Cultist Hero with Heavens magic, to Tzeentch's forces. She has six visual variants, half of which are women from Cathay, and half of which are women from Old World territories. All six have their own unique mask.

New!
The Cult Oracle is now included in a combined mod collection entitled Alshua's Cultists.

Lore
The Cult Oracles are fortune-tellers, prophetesses, Astromancers, and Celestial Mages who have been corrupted into the service of Tzeentch. Heavens Magic in Total War is mostly represented by weather effects, but its primary role is reading the heavens to predict the future. Thus, the Oracle allows Tzeentch access to what is, in lore, one of his core schools of magic.

In Warhammer Fantasy lore, Cathay is the target of what may be Tzeentch's grandest designs, and Cults of Tzeentch are particularly powerful there. Thus, many of the Oracles are Cathayan. They differ not only in skin tone, mask, and facial details, but also in the sorts of items they carry around, and even their height (slightly shorter than the Old World women).

Design
In-game, she is almost identical to the male Cultist, with only her school of magic and her summoneds unit changing. I want her to feel like a natural, fully balanced part of the game. The male Cultist of Tzeentch has been renamed "Cult Acolyte", a name which implies his use of fire, to avoid confusion. To match the Oracle, he has been given a second summon option (Chaos Furies) and made recruitable by Vilitch also. No other changes have been made to the Cultist of Tzeentch.

Instead of Pink Horrors, the Oracle summons either Furies or Screamers of Tzeentch (to represent her connection to the sky). Her special "Maddened Furies" are identical to normal Furies of Tzeentch, except that they are Unbreakable. They decay like normal summons.

The Oracle has a heavily customized Warshrine, based around a "celestial globe," which is a device used by early astronomers. Instead of a fat demon, she has a cool statue of a Chaos Fury (the design is from my Furies Reskin).

Factional Furies Reskin - Strongly recommended for use with this mod, since it will make the summoned Maddened Furies of Tzeentch look cooler.

All good lol, I just completed my mod for the Ice Guards.

@EnumaEllis - I know what you mean. I don't really expect to mod Kislev much though, it's not a faction I really play.

@Avatar - For High Elves, I strongly recommend this mod. It's not really loreful for Dark Elves, but there's a mod for that too. I don't know of one for Wood Elves, but don't think I'll have time to do it myself.

I am curious if you can do something for the Ice Matriarch and Ice WItch? They look so plain and in desperate need for a makeover.

can you do the same mod but fore male sorcerers for bretonia and both elves?
Alshua  [author] 24 Mar @ 11:55pm
@Sin - It will at least need a very minor update since recruitment has moved down a tier. But I'm on the case.

@Chieftiger - Sorry, it's already a lot of effort to maintain these separate versions now that they're bundled in my Alshua's Cultists mod. There are so many different versions; even if I made yours, someone might post there saying, "Can I get a reskin-only version that keeps the male cultists too?" And if I did that, they might say, "Can I get a version that's reskin-only but includes Vilitch?" There's only so much I can do.

Will this needed to be updated after 6.1 Update or naw?

Fixes
- No longer interferes with the Trickster's ability to make cults, even though he deserved it [thanks for the report, Derejin]
Derejin 3 Nov, 2024 @ 9:10pm
Hello! As a heads-up, when only this mod is installed, the Changeling's "Trickster Cultists" are unable to establish Trickster cults.

No matter which option you pick, it just creates a 'regular' Tzeentch cult like Kairos would get.

How I reproduce the issue:
-Start a Changeling campaign with no mods active. Save after getting a Trickster Cultist.
=Establish a Trickster Cult (any type) with the Trickster Cultist. Works: creates a Trickster Cult with some pre-built buildings and four slots.
=Exit out without saving, enable this mod, load back into the save and try again. Creates an empty 'regular' Tzeentch Cult (only two slots, no pre-built buildings)

Decided to try to troubleshoot it myself, and found a solution (and it seems to have no side effects, at least for the Changeling):
If I go into this mod's pack file and remove tze_fem_cultist from campaign_group_member_criteria_subcultures_tables under the db folder, this issue gets resolved.

That said: thank you for the mod!

Fix
- Cult Oracle is now correctly unable to create cults for The Changeling (the Changeling creates his cults with Trickster cultists, war, and other methods)
