Intro - Home Base
A semi-bad example, since I have Lvl. 42 privilege (By the time of this post).

Welcome, here's how to make your profile spiffy, to say "This is the real me." and probably to say "I am human and respectable."/"I have been around here for a long time." Mainly about some tips and tricks beyond the basics. This is an "unknown, but open secret" game that one can choose to participate in. Some of these are stuff that even long time Steam users don't even know.

Note: Though be aware that these tips are "simple." I won't teach ya how to do anything insanely fancy, that's too advance for me (It involves the console). Also, some of these sites are from Deviantart and Tumblr, since I know my way around them. Lastly, this will be similar to my art program guides, I will only update when I discover new "secrets".

Also, please help me catch any grammar mistakes, misspellings and incorrect/omitted information. Thanks in advance.

The Point Shop

The Point Shop is one of the basic ways of customizing your profile. It provides a ton of needs, like profile backgrounds, avatars, special showcases and (Honorable mentions, the Point Badge and the emotes and animation stickers for chatting and discussions.)

The showcases are like the branches to a tree, they hang off of your "Main" showcase that one can get after reaching Level 10.

My Steam Guides About The Point Shop

These guides go a bit in dept about the PS.

Bloody Red Lollipop

If you're broke, you have to do some activities to rake in the Steam Points. Engaging in the community will be enough to get them. (And getting the additional Clown Steam Points for doing a Henry Clay "I rather be right than be president" in the forums/discussions is worth it).
Badges
Badges also play a part with Steam levels of one's profile.

If one is broke, here's a trick to catch up with ya rich peers' profiles.

Just go to the Marketplace and buy a pack of dirt cheap cards and begin crafting like crazy. (The tools that I listed will help with this).

I'm cheating with this Sussy Baka profile, since I own the game on my phone.

The other method is to participate in the events, even though you're not buying much. Steam will give a few cards for ya to help a bit with the badge crafting.

Tip: Do this during the Steam sales, especially the Summer and Winter ones, that's when things are big and you'll get a different set of cards to craft a different set of badges. The left over items and cards can be used to keep or to sell in the Steam Marketplace.

Point Shop Badge

This is a different sort of badge, but there's huge similarities. It can be leveled up like it's cousin(s), but it uses Steam Points instead of trading cards. There's only two types, winter and summer.

If one has enough SPs, Just hop from one badge to the next.

Or you can just skip all those the ranks and get the badge that ya want.

Green Herb Lollipop

Depending on the game/software, the foil badges may be really pricey. But if ya own the game/software, all ya have to do is use the Steam Gems to craft booster packs.

Note: Gems have other uses, like bidding for games. But this guide is about one of the uses for them.
Steam Trading Cards
Here's where the magic happens.

You need cards to craft badges and boost your Steam profile level. There's two ways to get cards:

  • Break down your inventory items into gems.
  • Trading, either with friends/rivals or a trade bot.

Bloody Red Rose Tip:

One can get extra cards (and items) in the Steam sales without owning games/DLC/Miscellaneous stuff (like soundtracks and artbooks). When they tell ya, just participate in scavenger hunts, watching a bit of a stream for "x" minutes or even browsing through your quence. Engagement is the key. That's how I was able to snag some things, like the Lunar new year emotes.

Here's some of the ways ya want to get rid of some "worthless" coupons, just use these trade bots:

TrashDump

Leaf Coupon BOT

Leaf BOTS - This is more of an index of all the Leaf Bots and their users.

Here's a trading bot that will give ya gems and keys for trading cards for dem badges.

Duobot - Level Service Group - In order to use the bot, ya have to have your TF2 keys, CS:Go keys, and Steam gems ready and "add to friendlist" ready. This group will help you with more questions and to find the right Duobot for ya.
Green Herb Lollipop - Miscellaneous Tips
Well, they go frustrated of all the good Steam guides that they've written got buried and decided to team up.

Steam Curators

These are some of the few Steam curators will help you with your "I am sitting with 10 billion Steam Points and I dunno what to do with them." Or the "Help I am mega Steam Points broke." Situations. Since they're Steam Point rewarding swapping groups and/or a group behind a trading bot that will traide TF2 keys, CS:GO keys and Gems for trading cards. These groups have a bot that ya can trade keys/stuff with for cards to craft badges.

These groups are connected to the bots, I just linked the groups, so, ya can ask questions and help others in these groups.

Steam Point Trading And Bot Leveling Group

Profile Awards - This is the biggest Steam Points exchange group that's featured here.

How To Level Up - This is another leveling up bot that also gives away Steam Points and cards.

Community Awards - Note: This is an old-ish group that the founders left to found a new group, which is Profile Awards.

Bot Leveling Groups

These are just leveling groups, no, fancy Steam Points.

Duobot - Level Service

Kalizar Level Up

Showcases

Workshop Showcase

To activate the "Workshop showcase" and remove it from it's "invalid for your account" status, ya have to go to Workshop and mark a mod as your "favorite". Once ya done that, your showcase will be activated.

Grids, Heroes, And Icons

One can go further into customizing one's profile, it's customizing a game's hero, grid, and icons for your indiviual flare. The perfect sites for this:

Unless, ya wanna do the drawing yourself, the specs are:

  • Capsule - 300px x 450 px' or '600px x 900px'
  • Hero Banner - 1920px x 620px or 3840px x 1240px (for 4k)
  • Product Logo - 640px x 360px PNG or 1280px x 720px (for 4k)

Next whip up that drawing software and get your creative juices flowing.

Placement

Here's a Corel Painter Essentials 4 example.

To upload your pieces of work, just right click on the (Hero/Capsule/Product Logo) box and wait for the drop box menu to pop out.

Scroll to Manage and click on the Set Custom Artwork.

This will open up into your files, go and click on the (Hero/Capsule/Product Logo) piece that ya want to use.

Game Avatars

Ya can even use avatars from games that ya don't own, especially upcoming games.

This one is from 魔法召唤大冒险
(aka Magic Summoning Adventure), a non-English game.

Ya can get any game avatar that you see in this Steam Link: Game Avatars

Reminder: Bookmark the page of that specific avatar that ya like, if you're not intending to buy the game. Otherwise, you'll need to slogged through the Game Avatar list.

-----
So to change your avatar, log into Steam first, click on the avatar that you want from the list.

Then click on "Save", this will change your avatar.

Magician Aike Note: Here's the link if you want the Magician Aike Avatar.

+++++

The other method is, if you see an interesting avatar in the , where the avatars are located. Just snagged one. The reasons why ya have these, it's because your friends, family and frienemies own these games.
