One of the most iconic maps ever

Please see the top part of the map description - you need Counter Strike: Source (CS:S) to properly use the map. This is a requirement for the Trouble in Terrorist Town game mode.

There are missing textures and error models, why?
Matt2468rv  [author] 24 Mar @ 10:29am
I used an online text-to-speech generator, but I can't remember which one. It was over 10 years ago though, so with recent advances in text-to-speech technology there is a good chance the website I originally used is gone.

what's the voice you used for this map

Alright. :) Thanks for the respond!
I'm really happy of the version 4.
Matt2468rv  [author] 4 Mar @ 10:59pm
@Cthulhu903 - This is the final version. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I can't think of anything I'd want to change. I had a pretty expansive to-do list for V4 and crushed through everything before releasing it. I've been done with Garry's Mod mapping for a while now because I love VR development so much. But I always answer comments on my maps, and still hop into TTT once in awhile!
Matt2468rv  [author] 4 Mar @ 10:59pm
I should also mention that this map is what gave me the confidence to do a career pivot and become a game developer full-time. Right now I'm working on my own VR game called "VELOCIBLASTER" (feel free to search it if you're curious) and I hope to support custom maps because I absolutely love that aspect of Garry's Mod, and it's healthy for a game's growth and longevity.

Honestly, I can't believe Garry's Mod is just as popular as it was 15 years ago. When looking at the stats for this map, the downloads are still climbing just as much as when I first released it, which is hard to believe. User-generated content is what keeps games alive!

@Jack Bauer - Hey! I remember playing TTT with you years ago! Great to hear from you, and thank you so much for your kind words. That truly means a lot.

I did go big with the map - it was a wonderful creative outlet for me, and was a fun side project for years as I continued to make updates to it. I just wanted to keep creating, thus it grew pretty large. The teleporters were the best solution I could use to help with smaller player counts without cutting any of the map's content. I loved Half Life also, so I wanted to make something that was in-universe but a competitor to Black Mesa (some of that "lore" can be found in certain places like the conference room projector).
Cthulhu903 25 Feb @ 11:24am
I enjoy the map!
I have something to ask, are you planning on version 5 or this is final?
Jack Bauer 25 Feb @ 2:50am
Re: big map, the teleporters were a nice touch, although I never minded this map being as big as it is. In the v2 version, if I was the last innocent remaining, I would usually just run around the map in a loop and avoid traitors until time ran out lol.

Also, while I'm here, I wanna say thanks for this map. I've pretty much consistently kept at least one of the versions on my server since around 2018 and it is genuinely one of my favorite ttt maps of all time! Maybe that's just because I loved Half Life and it gives Black Mesa vibes, but anyway, thanks!

Thanks! I really appreciate that! I spent a lot of time on those details. :)

Thanks! Yeah, it's a pretty big map - that is why I added teleporters in the final version, so that it now plays better with smaller groups of people. But, half the fun of TTT is screwing around with stuff in the map. :)

feels more like a sandbox map than terrorist town, to be honest. but great nonetheless

why is there a corpse in the sewers
T O Y O T A 27 Jul, 2024 @ 3:33am
That is a valuable ability these days. Where games, nowadays are oriented to be linear and not exactly customiseable by the user.
Matt2468rv  [author] 26 Jul, 2024 @ 9:15am
The key to longevity with a video game is: 1) User-generated content, and 2) Strong community-building mechanics. In the case of Garry's Mod, I'd definitely agree that it being an open sandbox game facilitates both of those things, with users able to upload any custom content/maps they want, and communities are able to form since anyone can make their own custom servers.
T O Y O T A 26 Jul, 2024 @ 1:49am
The point is, I think every game with rich sandbox capabilities will live longer than other games. Garry's mod is an exceptional project of its kind that is ridiculously simple, but genius as it is.
Matt2468rv  [author] 25 Jul, 2024 @ 9:24pm
To me it's crazy to see that Gmod is still just as popular as it was 10+ years ago. Even in my stats for this map, it shows the graph for downloads still climbing at a very steady rate.
T O Y O T A 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:02pm
Maybe even earlier.
T O Y O T A 25 Jul, 2024 @ 12:01pm
Im not that old yet either. Im in my early twenties now. I played this map first when I was like 14?
Matt2468rv  [author] 25 Jul, 2024 @ 11:47am
I started working on this map in 2011. First version released in 2013. Hard to believe it's been that long ago!

It sure can! In Sandbox mode there are even "eye scanners" you can use to freely access the traitor room areas.
We are Magonia 10 Jun, 2024 @ 6:14am
can this map be used just as a sandbox map
Matt2468rv  [author] 28 May, 2024 @ 9:43am
Probably not, because the map was designed for TTT, not TTT2. The map is stable for TTT, but if TTT2 has more "overhead" (more entities, more networking stuff) which causes limits to be exceeded, then I'm not sure it's even possible to support TTT2 without removing content from the map, which I don't plan to do since this is the final version of the map.
Louis 26 May, 2024 @ 11:39am
Will there be TTT2 Support cause as a user already mentioned the map crashes on start?.

Appreciate the comment and glad you like the map! :) I love science lab maps as well, as I'm sure you can tell. Best of luck becoming a scientist in the future - let's just hope there are no reactor meltdowns or resonance cascades wherever you end up working!
HamburglarWarrior The Great 27 Apr, 2024 @ 12:59pm
hey its me again i wish there are more maps like this becus i want to be a scientist one day
Matt2468rv  [author] 12 Apr, 2024 @ 5:32pm
Hmm, I built the map for the original TTT gamemode and I know it is stable for that. I am unfamiliar with TTT2, so I can't claim to officially support it. If TTT2 is more taxing on the entity limit, then that may be a problem since the map does indeed have a lot of stuff in it.
Globgy 11 Apr, 2024 @ 11:21pm
Map crashes on round start in TTT2, seems to be breaching the entity limit causing an instant crash
Matt2468rv  [author] 10 Apr, 2024 @ 8:12am
Oh, that's odd. For me in the Beta 2 version combine NPCs will chase me around the whole map and open doors. I wonder why that isn't working for you...
Cpl. Cemodracy 9 Apr, 2024 @ 7:38pm
I tested it and no, he just sits there and shoots me when he sees me.
Matt2468rv  [author] 9 Apr, 2024 @ 8:47am
Hmm if you open up version Beta 2 in sandbox mode and spawn an enemy NPC (like a combine soldier) does it follow you around and open doors and such?

And yes, CS:S is required - it is also required for the Trouble in Terrorist Town gamemode. If your friend doesn't own it I would recommend having them search for a CS:S content pack addon that can be downloaded for free!
Cpl. Cemodracy 7 Apr, 2024 @ 7:38pm
Beta 2 doesn't have a navmesh. Is this a bug or smth?
Cpl. Cemodracy 7 Apr, 2024 @ 7:30pm
Also, is CSS needed for the actual map, not just the gamemode? My friend doesn't own it, soooo...
Cpl. Cemodracy 7 Apr, 2024 @ 4:21pm
Oh I do, this thing is amazing
