if you are using this mod's 1.4 version of github file and both combat extended, it can cause serious problems. use it at your own risk.

Just recompiled my fork and updated the PR. Still no sign of the original author so no steam update.

Installing 1.3 edits walkthrough:

1) Click on link from NFSNOOB (comment before mine), it'll take you to GitHub.
2) There is a button above all of the files/folders that appear, when you click on it, a drop-down menu will appear. You can select "Download ZIP" to get the new items.
3) Open up the folders where you have your downloads and where you have your mod files, most likely downloads for the former and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\1417354001" or something similar for the latter.
4) Unzip the ZIP file that you downloaded, then open up the unzipped folder, should be called "advancedshieldbelts-" and a lot of letters/numbers or something like that. You'll click into another folder, similarly named, where you'll see a list of files/folders that are like the list on GitHub.
5) Select all of the items in that downloaded folder, and then drag and drop them over to the mod files section. Replace old items with the new ones when asked.

Seems that ranged shield belts on your pawn take its control off, you can't draft him if he's wearing it. Be careful.

PR = pull request by another modder. Go to that modders git and you can download updated code. Seems like this author is no longer active.

Hi Logan, can we have a link to that 1.3 support?
I am not familiar with Github an dI do not know what a ''PR'' is.
I only find on Github the 1.2 version, I found nothing related to 1.3 support for this mod.

Check the github, there's a PR that adds 1.3 support. The license doesn't permit redist, so the PR is the best I can do.

Sadly this was my go to mod, I have seen a few others updated and even created during the 1.3 of rimworld.

So I will keep this one on a watch list but I will be moving on.

There's a mod called 'Personal Defense System' which does the same thing. It adds a craftable shield belt that allow the use of ranged weapon. It has been updated to 1.3.

If this mod doesn't get updated to fix the draft issue, we might have o go to Dampening Belts.
Mitigates Damage instead of out-right eliminating it, but can draft pawns

Would just like to warn anyone thinking to use this in 1.3 that the shield belts (ranged ones, at least) make pawns undraftable

Are you going to update this mod? I'm not being impatient, I love the mod and just want to know whether to wait for an update and play without for now or go with Vanilla Expanded Accessories which I like a lot less than this mod.

Hi there, fantastic mod btw, I have the smallest problem, the Quarian in Rimeffect races are only allowed to use belt slot items, but can't use your shields (they can use normal shields and smoke pop belts). I'd really love it if it was possible to give my quarian pawn a ranged shield belt. Thanks again for your great mod.

Hi dninemfive, after doing some tests I don't think it a bug finaly, the shield breaks really fast but I'm using a mod that boost all weapons damage so that's probably just that. (I though the shield hp = the damage it could receive but it looks more like 2 or 3 shield hp = 1 bullet damage shielded). So prob no bug here sorry for that :cgrazz:

@Porcy Please post a HugsLib log including that issue here [github.com] if you think this is a bug.

Keep in mind the ranged shield belt is balanced to be relatively weak, and will generally only absorb two or three rifle shots normally. Some mods might buff weapons, making them take even fewer shots to be destroyed.

For those who want to use the shield belt with a utility u can just change the layers from "Belt" to "OnSkin" on the def files it might be a bit unbalanced but if u want to have the belts together with the new Utility items like jumppacks this is the way. :3

Could you make different sprites/pictures/art for the different shield belts? It would be nice to be able to tell which is which just by looking at them.

@pakeru Sorry for the late reply. They can be found in your Steam install folder/steamapps/workshop/content/294100/1417354001 (this mod's workshop ID, from the URL). You'll want to copy the files there into your /mods/ folder (steamapps/common/RimWorld/mods) so they don't get overwritten if I update in the future.

@sierra with ce my belts are working, although the heavy seems to be only marginally better in capacity than the normal shield belt while still having a lot worse recharge rate

@Angelin01 They will. They're restricted to pirate captains in vanilla iirc, but they're quite common on Imperial troops if you have Royalty installed.

@Sierra Apparently the DLL wasn't meant to be included in Exiled Dawn, but was. Jango just removed it; you can try deleting AdvancedShieldBelts.dll from that mod manually if it doesn't start working.
