I played this game for 16 hours in one sitting. It's only a little addicting.

Despite meeting minimum specs I can't run this game on the lowest settings. It has incredibly bad input lag on my computer.

Also, reading other reviews, you seriously expect people to be okay with being forced to play the game lest they lose all their progress? I'm refunding this heap of garbage. What a shame, this looked promising.

Make this game not run like ♥♥♥♥, then we'll talk. Also, your AI is terrible.

This game takes some getting used to. I originally thought it was real bad until I figured out its quirks. I can comfortably say this game is fun, and unique. For a space builder it has a lot of freedom - which is great. I love that I can build all size and manner of ships and I love that I can even build stations. But unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a lot there to do with that freedom. Sure, you can build a station. But why would you? You often aren't going to be revisiting old systems, and they can't be autonomous. Sure, you can build little drones for your hangar.. but why would you, they can't be autonomous.

I also hate the arbitrary limitation on ship size and the amount of mounts you can have on one ship. I understand why, for balance purposes, especially for public multiplayer, you need to have some sort of limitation.

But add a toggle for my singleplayer or private multiplayer game that removes it. I don't want to be forced to play creative mode in order to make a ship which feels like mine and does what I want to do.

Also, some ability to automate your ships would be extremely welcome. It would open up a ton of possibilities for creativity and ease of progression if you could, say, create a fleet to follow you around.. or even better, build a space station, fill its hangars with ships.. and then give the station and ships instructions... imagine being able to build a station in an asteroid field (they would need to be made to replenish every so often which would also be a good change), give it some mining drones, instruct them to look for a certain material and mine it for the station.. which would then craft based on crafting orders you give it. It'd be great to get rid of that mindless grinding for materials when you're at the point that you should be above doing that. Also, the fact that you have to sit and have the crafting menu open in order to craft any materials and can't just have it idly in the background.. and can't queue up crafting orders either... real sucky.

TL;DR It's good - but early access definitely shows. It needs some work.

I got this game and spent four and a half hours flying around looking at everything there was to see. I was so mind-boggled and entranced by the experience of this game's magnificence that I was engaged the whole time. It offers a glimpse into our universe. It's like a dream. Every new system visited I felt like I never wanted to leave.

I saw beautiful auroras, strange multi-colored gas giants, atmospheres which neatly split into several layers of different colors, galaxies colliding. The most beautiful thing I saw was on the surface of a small moon with a purple-hued atmosphere. It was orbiting a huge blue gas giant which glowed a vibrant pink through the skies of this foreign place when it was in the sun. It was so bright that the planet had two horizons. One for the sun, and one for the gas giant's reflected light.

Space is scary. The sheer magnitude of it is incomprehensibly vast, and incomprehensibly empty. But space is also beautiful. I would leave everything behind if I was offered a chance to travel the stars and see them up close.

Easily worth 30 dollars. If you like space as much as I do -- then this game has the potential to provide endlessly to you. There is so much to explore here -- once you leave the proximity of our solar system you will be seeing things that not a single person has ever observed before. Once you leave our galaxy you can be sure of it.

I'm not this game's biggest fan. The team behind this game has made a lot of questionable decisions. For one: live service games are extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and everyone should hate them with a passion. Two: the balancing. They've consistently ruined a lot of fun loadouts, combos, and weapons, when this game is OBVIOUSLY meant to be enjoyed as a "have fun doing crazy ♥♥♥♥" kind of game. Then that isn't even talking about their whole anti-cheat kerfuffle. All-in-all, the people in charge of this game have lied and shown complete disregard for the community they fostered.

However, I have to admit that this game IS still fun. Even solo or with randoms in matchmaking. It's still pretty, it's still difficult, and it's just well put-together. I have to recommend it because the game itself holds its weight even if the devs seemingly WANT to see it fail.

I think it deserves GOTY to be honest. It's pretty good.

This is a revised review after 40+ hours of gameplay, almost exclusively singleplayer.

I absolutely love this game. It's worth the money and it's a lot of fun. All of the vehicles are fun/satisfying to use, and I often feel that when I die it's my own fault and not the game's.

I only ask one thing, Nuclear Option dev(s): I'd really love to see Escalation be its own "gamemode," with procedurally generated objectives, a better late game, and overall I'd just like to see it be more dynamic. As it stands, it feels like the early game is very samey and routine, while the late game is often just mind-numbing mopping up. The AI is a little dumb, as well. I've seen Darkreaches deploy the biggest nukes in the game on a friendly airbase just to blow up a single IFV that managed to get close.

Also, the ability to play as the vehicles, ships and air defense would be very cool. Perhaps a little hopeful, but very cool.

I want to have fun in this game, but it's just not fun. Even when doing well, it doesn't feel rewarding. The meta is so hard-defined that you are forced to adopt boring, easy playstyles in order to maximize your chances of winning.

This is a truly unique game. It's a massive shame that this didn't win "Most Innovative Gameplay." The scale that this game allows you to play is astonishing. It truly does give you cases that YOU need to solve - no linearity. You have to do your own investigation, come to your own conclusions, and find your own path. There's even more to it outside of that - with side missions and whatever personal things you want to get up to including thievery.

This game really impresses me. I wish I could put into perspective how satisfying it is to solve a particularly difficult case and look over the massive document you've built - all the leads and connections you've drawn, the dead-ends you've chased and backed out of, the witnesses you've talked to, the buildings you've searched, everything. Of course, you don't have to play that way at all. You could break into everyone's houses looking for evidence. Me, personally... I love the investigation. My investigations are thorough, nothing left unchecked. Looking back on the files after I'm done is a feeling of satisfaction I've never felt with any other game.

This game is TRULY one of a kind and fully worth its asking price. I ask you to give it a try.
