Beskrivning
Here you can find version 1.3 of the "Water Textures - Natural Water Surfaces" (earlier "Terrain textures for natural water surfaces") for the paint tools.
Since version 1.3 waterways (streets with water textures) are available from WernerK (design and icons for them are also from him). He also tested development versions of the water textures mod (1.3) and supported me with feedback and hints.

Important information
Due to a limit of characters for a workshop description, this description is reduced. Because of the limitation I even contacted Steam support some time ago.
You can find the full description on the German Transport Fever community platform:
The contents of this workshop description may be optimized in the near future.

Features
  • 49 textures for the painting tools (6 textures in 8 colors each + 2 foam textures)
  • the 6 textures per color differ in
    • smooth:
      • clean
      • dirty
    • wavy (based on an original wave texture):
      • Small waves
      • Scaling low
      • Medium scaling
      • Scaling high
  • 2 colors roughly correspond to the color of the water in the game (temperate / dry, tropical)
  • 24 streets as waterways (8 street kits with 3 streets each) with several setting options
  • the 3 streets per kit differ in width
  • Mod settings (Thanks to VacuumTube for the suggestion!)
  • Settings via script extra_mod_settings.lua (selectable via mod settings)

Performance problems...?
Many terrain materials could cause massive performance problems in previous game builds, but at the latest as of build 31994 these should no longer occur. If you still experience problems, please let me know.

Anyway, the following helped against the earlier performance problems...
  • reduce the texture setting in the game's graphics settings
  • deactivate terrain materials in the mod settings
Attention: If whole mods, single terrain materials or streets are deactivated for a savegame and affected terrain materials or streets were already used in it, they will be removed respectively replaced by placeholders at the next load!

Mod settings
In the game:

Alternative settings (extra_mod_settings.lua):
Please note that the alternative settings will be deleted by a mod update and by repairing the game, so the extra_mod_settings file should always be backed up. Also, the alternative settings do not work for published savegames or maps, but only for you locally.

Additional settings
-
Selection of the settings from the extra_mod_settings.lua file
-
hide_default_mod_settings
If the script settings are sufficient for you and some already exist in the extra_mod_settings.lua file, the mod settings can be hidden except for the additional settings. This can help to reduce the output in the stdout.txt file.

Foam - hOffset
If you want to change the hOffset value, please test these changes first in a test savegame. Foam textures become visible more quickly with a higher hOffset value when applied, but existing foam surfaces also change:
hOffset = 0
hOffset = 0.5

Technical
  • for the terrain materials there are 10 texture files in total

The street mode, not the texture, is further activated in the advanced settings of this mod.

We can build big bridges over waterways.
You're talking about small bridges like those found on country roads.
In that case, use "Build with Collision."
Simple explanation: Normally, if you want to build roads (or waterways) in three dimensions, a certain level of difference in height is necessary. If you have this, you can ignore that and build.

Do you have any advice on making realistic lakes with your mod?
crisdegroen 1 okt, 2023 @ 6:37
I use a map where this mod is being used. The thing is that I can't build bridges over the street kits. If there is a waterway, the only option is to remove part of it.
How do you guys solve this issue? How can I build a bridge over the water?

There are no water surfaces in streets menu, am I missing something?

Falls du jetzt noch Unterstützung gebrauchen kannst, frage ich zuerst, wo die Straßen nicht angezeigt werden?
Nicolas Salzberg 16 jun, 2023 @ 4:35
@Relozu Die straßen werden nicht angezeigt

@Hopkins Thanks, for your feedback.

Since the mod works for me, I have an important question for you first:
How did you find out that this mod is no longer working?
Hopkins 12 mar, 2023 @ 8:50
It doesn't work with the new update... :(
Relozu  [skapare] 22 nov, 2022 @ 12:54
@WernerK Es ist sogar näher dran, als ich dachte. Vielleicht hat mich die Werbung unbewusst inspiriert. :D
