SR Bulleid Light Pacific 4-6-2 & Merchant Navy 4-6-2

Description
Southern Railway Battle of Britain/West Country class Light Pacific 4-6-2

Southern Railway Merchant Navy class Pacific 4-6-2

Southern Railway Bulleid 2-8-2

So, about three (and a bit) years ago, while playing the first Transport Fever, I happened across a mod SteveM4 had made, which was a mesh edit of the vanilla Borsig engine to make it into a 4-4-0 that looked more like an early British engine.

I liked this mod. Like....a lot. But I didn't like the firebox shape. And after a bit of mental back and forth, I figured I could tweak the mesh myself. So....I did. And I liked it so much I published it. And the feedback was so good that I decided to make some early carriages. And things kind of snowballed from there.

So, fast forward to today, and this mod. Which is both a bit of a...I guess gift to the community for helping kickstart it all, and a test to myself to see just how much I've learned in three years and just how good a model I can produce.

And, because I chose an engine that British Railways decided to rebuild into a completely different shape....I decided to model both variants.

So, yeah. Here's a couple of Bulleid light pacifics. And now also some Merchant Navies as well.

I'd like to credit a few people - firstly, to SteveM4, who inspired me to start 3D modelling in the first place (and has continued to provide me with a *ton* of mods to enjoy over the years, check his stuff out). Also, the Transport Fever 2 UK discord for dealign with my screenshot dumps the last week or so >.> But also being a welcoming and helpful group when I pop in once every 6 months or so.

Also a big thank you to uzurpatorex for their Heusinger/Walschaerts Animation Tool mod, because Walschaerts drives are the devil and I animating one is a nightmare, and that tool helped a LOT.

Also a big thanks to anyone who has supported me with kind words or comments over the past three years. And to those of you who have chosen to send me money, I can't thank you enough. These are rough times for everyone, and the generosity is so, so appreciated.

Features
-UPDATE: Now includes fictional SR Bulleid 2-8-2 and rebuilt Bulleid 2-8-2.
-Air-smoothed Bulleid Light Pacific in SR Malachite, BR Green, BR Blue and new BR Black liveries.
-Rebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific in BR green ,BR blue and new BR Black liveries.
-Air-smoothed Merchant Navy class Pacific in SR Malachite, BR Green, BR Blue and new BR Black liveries.
-Rebuilt Merchant Navy class Pacific in BR green, BR Blue and new BR Black liveries.
-Full aging and recolour support (and even some shiny normal maps as well to give them that bit of extra dimension and sparkle!)
-Sorted in a single depot menu to reduce purchase menu clutter
-Reverse variants
-Small file size and .dds compressed textures, to help with load speed
-Lods to reduce GPU load - both meshes are around 60000 tries at closest distance, down to about 2000 tris at farthest zoom.
-Placeable rail assets (also with lods) allowing placement of the full engine, or just the tender or locomotive if you wish.
-NEW pre-aged placeable assets now included!
-like a stupid amount of detail for an engine compared to my previous mods (especially considering I've never even seen it in real life tbh)

Another update. This time I've remapped the meshes and redone the textures entirely, made some new wheel meshes, completely redone the menus and assets and a lot more.

This wil probably bug out existing locomotives unfortunately (again), so apologies for the inconvenience!

The update was pretty major and required fairly large changes to the existing file structure, so existing locomotives will have to be replaced. Apologies for the inconvenience.

UPDATE: Overhauled the texture to bring them in line with the BR standards, new bogie meshes, a few extra details on the meshes, added a new BR unlined black livery and basically just freshened the whole mod because I felt it was starting to look a bit dated compared to some of my more recent mods.

UPDATE: Small adjustment to the gloss textures.

@dylambert: iirc I think I fiddled around with a 4-8-2 initially but it looked weird (suuuuuuper long boiler) so I decided against it.

Didn't Bulleid also look at a 4-8-2?

I've also updated the aging and included the option to place pre-aged assets, like with my generic coaches and generic engines packs.

Update: So thanks to an idea floated by a member on the UK TpF2 discord, I've now included 2 new locomotives based on a 2-8-2 wheel arrangement Bulleid had proposed for the Merchant Navy design (available in the air-smoothed and rebuilt shapes, and all available liveries are usable). I've also added a new lined BR Black livery to all locomotives, and I've gone back and fixed a significant number of mesh and texture issues and more or less completely redone the textures again to make them more visually consistant with some of my other models and liveries like the LNER engines.

I've also identified a few very minor mesh issues that I want to update or tweak, and that'll be coming in the near future as well.
