Another update. This time I've remapped the meshes and redone the textures entirely, made some new wheel meshes, completely redone the menus and assets and a lot more.

This wil probably bug out existing locomotives unfortunately (again), so apologies for the inconvenience!

The update was pretty major and required fairly large changes to the existing file structure, so existing locomotives will have to be replaced. Apologies for the inconvenience.

UPDATE: Overhauled the texture to bring them in line with the BR standards, new bogie meshes, a few extra details on the meshes, added a new BR unlined black livery and basically just freshened the whole mod because I felt it was starting to look a bit dated compared to some of my more recent mods.

UPDATE: Small adjustment to the gloss textures.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 22 Jan, 2023 @ 7:17pm
@dylambert: iirc I think I fiddled around with a 4-8-2 initially but it looked weird (suuuuuuper long boiler) so I decided against it.
dylambert 22 Jan, 2023 @ 6:33pm
Didn't Bulleid also look at a 4-8-2?
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 27 Sep, 2022 @ 8:21pm
I've also updated the aging and included the option to place pre-aged assets, like with my generic coaches and generic engines packs.

Update: So thanks to an idea floated by a member on the UK TpF2 discord, I've now included 2 new locomotives based on a 2-8-2 wheel arrangement Bulleid had proposed for the Merchant Navy design (available in the air-smoothed and rebuilt shapes, and all available liveries are usable). I've also added a new lined BR Black livery to all locomotives, and I've gone back and fixed a significant number of mesh and texture issues and more or less completely redone the textures again to make them more visually consistant with some of my other models and liveries like the LNER engines.

Gr1m could you add the queens jubilee train
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 24 Apr, 2022 @ 8:39pm
I've also identified a few very minor mesh issues that I want to update or tweak, and that'll be coming in the near future as well.

UPDATE: So, I took a few texturing lessons learned while working on the A4s and updates the textures and normals of this mod. Its a bunch of small changes but hopefully the overall cumulative effect is worth it. IMHO the end result is that the textures look a bit less flat and interact with the game's lighting a bit better. I've also updated the smoke emitters to match the A4's style of exhaust, which is a little less resource intensive and a bit neater in general. Note that the smoke emitters won't update on existing engines until you replace them. Enjoy!

minor update, tweaked a few textures and emitters.

Delighted to be able to add these in place of the Mallards. Top models from what I can tell.
dylambert 30 Nov, 2021 @ 7:06pm
Here's a good question, and I can't think of anywhere else to post it. Have you given any thought to any of the Metropolitan Railway steam classes?
doug 20 Oct, 2021 @ 5:18am
Excellent work! Thanks.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 19 Oct, 2021 @ 8:33pm
UPDATE: Added SR wartime black livery.

Also all variants now have number labels now.
Bow-Tied Engineer 14 Oct, 2021 @ 1:57pm
You wouldn't happen to be nuts enough to do the light pacific in the weird livery Rebecca from the new seasons of Thomas has? I might be one of the few people who like her as a character, but she's the reason I really like this class of engine, and I really like her livery. It reminds me a little bit of the Chessie Systems vermilion and yellow livery in how bright and colorful it is.
If you don't want to that's fine, I just wanted to mention it as a thing that could be done.
MaroonSkygod 9 Oct, 2021 @ 7:07am
So happy to come back to this and see the Merchant Navy Class.Thank you Grim. Awesome, awesome work.
Quince99 7 Oct, 2021 @ 6:48am
UPDATE - I've found it only to be on the Merchant Navy class that exhibits this behaviour. I'll have a look at those and compare with the Light Pacifics - bit of fun for me this evening! :)
Quince99 7 Oct, 2021 @ 4:32am
Thanks @Gr1m - the previous version of your mod did show the multiple camera views (whether by accident or by design) so I'll have a look at my backup copy and compare the scripting.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 6 Oct, 2021 @ 7:14pm
@doug: Yeah, I went back to fix the lettering on the BR Blue livery, but sorta wound up remaking that livery all over again since I wasn't happy with the initial version.

I also fixed up some misplaced lights and smoke emitters.

@Quince99: Unfortunately I don't use that mod so I'm not really in a position to be able to help with that issue since the mod wasn't designed with that in mind, so any support for it is sorta....incidental at best. >.>
doug 6 Oct, 2021 @ 5:28pm
On the BR Blue non-rebuilt units, the lettering on the tenders appears to be inverted.
Quince99 6 Oct, 2021 @ 2:55pm
I've loved being able to run these on Golden Arrow services, but seem to have lost all the camera positions that I used to have with the Advanced Camera Views mod. When running a train, I only get interior/exterior views of the coaches.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 5 Oct, 2021 @ 10:59pm
UPDATE: Had a bit more time today than expected, so BR blue liveries are now available for all variants.
doug 5 Oct, 2021 @ 11:43am
BR Blue would be cool.
Fluttershy >:3 5 Oct, 2021 @ 3:41am
BR Blue hell yeah! :slimetabby:
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 4 Oct, 2021 @ 10:58pm
UPDATE: This mod now includes both the original and rebuilt Merchant Navy class pacifics. As a result, I'll be adding some more liveries soon. BR blue anyone?
Fluttershy >:3 4 Oct, 2021 @ 2:55am
My mistake I see now. Cheers.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 3 Oct, 2021 @ 5:04pm
The West Country mod is listed further down the page.
Fluttershy >:3 3 Oct, 2021 @ 3:15pm
I believe I have found your error. You referred to the modified Merchant Navy tractive effort, which is listed as 33,495, found on https://www.steamlocomotive.com/locobase.php?country=Great_Britain&wheel=4-6-2&railroad=br#1434

I can't find the modified battle of britain/west country class specification.

But the unmodified tractive effort of 31,065 is correct. It would surprise me if the modified locos did have a higher T.E. as they have lower boiler pressure.

I imagine you already know this, but to clarify the Merchant Navy were the sister locomotives of the Light Pacifics (Battle of Britain and West Country class), and not the same build as them.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 3 Oct, 2021 @ 2:11pm
@UnholyPhish: I source all of my numbers for all of my mods from steamlocomotive.com's frankly absurd database, which has provided some sourced numbers in the past for my LB&SCR mods that I couldn't find anywhere else. If you do a bit of digging (the navigation is a pain, since it prioritises US locomotives, so you have to go to wheel types, pacifics, international trains, great britain, southern railway/british railways) the numbers indicate the rebuilds had higher tractive effort. Possibly due to being heavier? I don't know, I'm not an expert on these things by any means. But hopefully that explains how I came to reach the numbers that I've used ^.^
Fluttershy >:3 3 Oct, 2021 @ 1:00pm
Bloody love this kettle, and fantastic work on it! One little gripe though: the rebuilt locomotives actually had lower tractive effort than the unmodified locomotives, at 123 kN according to wikipedia.
PineyCreek 29 Sep, 2021 @ 1:26am
I always loved the look of the rebuilt Bullied pacifics. In contrast I've always thought the original steamlined versions were incredibly ugly. Great work on both man.
Goddmunge 26 Sep, 2021 @ 12:14pm
Sublime, Gr1m! 😎 👏🏼 Can’t wait to fire up the ‘poota and see what this baby looks like!
MaroonSkygod 26 Sep, 2021 @ 4:55am
and thank you for your contribution!!
MaroonSkygod 26 Sep, 2021 @ 4:55am
Absolutely incredible news indeed. I had great fun using the light pacifics today. Outstanding detail.
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 26 Sep, 2021 @ 1:37am
@MaroonSkygod: I've been playing around with meshes today trying to figure out if its viable.

It is.

So they'll be added in an update soon. ^.^
MaroonSkygod 25 Sep, 2021 @ 11:05pm
Absolutely incredible to say the least. Is the Merchant navies on the horizon?
PlaneSimple 25 Sep, 2021 @ 10:34am
I rate this eleven out of ten! Actually, minus one point for using the old mark 1s ;) fantastic work :)
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m)  [author] 24 Sep, 2021 @ 8:37pm
UPDATE: Some small mesh fixes, and I've added some Golden Arrow variants.

Absolutely stunning. Very well done Gr1m!
