GWR Station

Description
GWR Station
A set of British Great Western Railway (GWR) styled modular train station templates, modules and assets by Isambard.

Three different eras are provided:
  • GWR (1850-1947)
  • British Railways (Western Region) (1948-1969)
  • British Rail (1970+)

Station Templates
  1. Passenger through station
  2. Passenger terminus station

Station Modules
  1. Passenger platform with end ramps
  2. Passenger platform without end ramps (to allow further detailing using track assets)
  3. Passenger platform without fences (to allow platform faces with non-modular track)
  4. Booking hall main passenger building (capacity for 40 passengers)
  5. Waiting room side passenger building (capacity for 30 passengers)
  6. Side entrance for passenger station access
  7. Subway for passenger platform access
  8. Footbridge (left stairs) for passenger platform access
  9. Footbridge (right stairs) for passenger platform access
  10. Platform canopy
  11. Side fence (to add fences to platforms without fences)

Track Assets
  1. Left ramp
  2. Platform segment (5m, comprising two 2.5m halves)
  3. Right ramp
  4. Waiting room
  5. End wall for track or platform
  6. Footbridge
  7. Foot crossing
  8. Bench
  9. Lamppost
  10. Poster board

Notes
a) No inclination of platform and ramp assets is provided, therefore only level track should be used when constructing platform and ramp assets.
b) For the best platform face alignment on curved track, the middle of the platform segment should be positioned at the track asset origin by setting the along track Offset to 0.0m.
c) Use the along track Scale to reduce platform gaps and overlaps on curved tracks (these can also occur on straight track as, although the nominal distance between track asset origins is 1m, this is not necessarily the case depending upon the track segment length).
d) When joining a platform segment to a modular platform or a ramp, ideally the join also needs to be positioned at a track asset origin. To facilitate this the 5m platform segment is divided into two 2.5m halves such that only one or other of the halves should be used for such a join (so a typical platform extension to a modular platform comprises one half segment, multiple full segments, another half segment and a ramp).
e) For a double faced platform extension to a modular platform, I use the following steps (also shown in preview video):
  1. With platform Back set to none, Width set to a value equal (or greater) than needed and the along track Offset set to 0.0m, construct the straighter of the two faces starting from the modular platform and ending with a ramp.
  2. With Width set to 0.0m, construct the other ramp face by adjusting the along track Offset so that the top of this ramp is level with the surface of the first ramp.
  3. Using the same along track Offset value, construct the half platform segment that joins to the second ramp face.
  4. With the along track Offset set back to 0.0m, construct the second face from the modular platform towards the ramp until the the gap is less than one platform segment.
  5. Fill the gap with a half or full platform segment, using the along track Offset and Scale to adjust the segment size and position to fit,
  6. For each platform segment and the ramp of the first face, use the Surface Reduction to adjust the surface to the correct width (the surface is slightly lower than the top of the platform edge slab to assist this).
  7. Sometimes it is also necessary to use the surface of the second face platform segments and ramp. In the case, after setting the Width and Surface Reduction, use the Surface Recess adjustment to prevent overlapping surfaces from shimmering.
f) The killakanz bullhead track mod (when outside modular stations) has a different track asset height origin compared to the base game track. Use the Height Adjustment to remove the platform surface step this causes.
g) The end wall asset can be used to fence off a platform without end ramps. For a 5m wide platform set Spacing to -5 or 5 as appropriate and then "snap to track". For a single sided platform set one of Left Edge or Right Edge to WALL and set the other edge to PLATFORM. For a double sided (5m wide) platform set both edges to PLATFORM. For wider platforms use other Spacing options.

Known Issues
a) Rapid movement of a slider when configuring the settings of an existing asset is sometimes not registered. This appears to be an issue with the base game as it also affects base game assets. Be gentle with the sliders!
b) Passenger Buildings and Side Entrances are not prevented from being placed in other (non-GWR) stations and, if they are placed, will have misaligned platform surfaces and will not provide functioning passenger lanes.

Seconding Jeb's request! I'd absolutely love to have just the middle part as an asset without the edge tiling, at the moment all you can do is lower then by one tiny stage to hide the edge tiling under the other pieces, but it gives a noticeable step between the two. Having a blank middle section texture would make these fantastic stations absolutely perfect.

Hi, any chance you could add an asset of just the platform texture so you could make platforms wider than just 10m out of the assets? Thank you very much.

@operator_frxsty - this station mod uses base game modular station functionality which does not support curved stations.

@Isambard are you able to make this station have a radius setting so that we can make it curved
Jimbo_1977 13 Dec, 2024 @ 6:12am
not the modules, without a substantial rebuild I wouldn't think, the asset parts can obviously

Is there any way you can use your station's assets/modules on the MOTRAS?
Jimbo_1977 11 Dec, 2024 @ 11:49am
Yeah it’s an asset that you place along side the track

how can i make a curved platform end like in the photos? is it an asset or something else?

Thank you, I will give you credits if I publish it :)

@Jeb Kerman - happy for you to use the textures, with an acknowledgement if published. Good luck with Leamington Spa Station!
