Sure, go ahead. I'm not maintaining this mod any more so any derivatives are welcome. A shout out would be appreciated though :).

Can I make S-Bahn tunnel version of this mod?
TomNewJelly 27 Dec, 2022 @ 10:47am
just as J.J Wilkinson has said, station rails dont work, changing them to 3rd rail causes the game to not register it as electrified so i cant use the trains for it
j.j.wilkinson 1 Sep, 2022 @ 12:59pm
Love the track, however I cannot place it in stations :(
BritishTrainspotting 11 Mar, 2022 @ 6:32am
can I have a link to said electrified version?
Panda130307 6 May, 2021 @ 7:17am
@Agohonoh Okay, I'll use these instead. Thanks!

@Panda130907
Mad Hatter has made a version that's electrified!
Panda130307 5 May, 2021 @ 9:08am
Make a version that is technically electrified. It would help me so much!

could you make a 4th rail mod, or an asset that clips to the centre
DustinCJ 23 Nov, 2020 @ 6:35pm
Uncovered third rails are just horrible in terms of safety, why de the Brits still use them? It's rather 19th century technology.
MKH1020 12 Jun, 2020 @ 10:28am
Can you configure the third rail as railroad ties? so they'll disappear at crossings while staying parallel to the track.

@Chunky Dickens
Oh also I almost forgot: it looks like Mad Hatter has created an extension of my mod that does that if you do want to do that.
Agohonoh  [author] 8 Apr, 2020 @ 6:19am
@Chunky Dickens

If you just don't want catenaries on the passenger lines I don't think this mod is for you. I made it for people who aesthetically want a matching 3rd rail for vehicles that would use a 3rd rail IR, not as a substitute for a catenary.

Please see the discussion thread on this topic for a more detailed rationale behind my decission and feel free to pitch in your opinion there. I haven't had time to update this mod recently but I'm certainly going to keep thinking about it.

Personally, I got really, really hyped up and excited when I saw how clean this mod looked, and was looking forwards to using it in an upcomming playthrough I want to have.
...
Then I saw that it's non-electrified..? To me this makes the mod all but pointless.. is there an issue with making it Electrified..? I think it looks as close to perfect as we might get otherwise. I remember using the old Jagged-slope third rail mod in TPF1, and still enjoying it's functionality.. if not it's looks..

Please, this looks like it would be the best mod of it's sort, if it was actually functional too.
If I build a third rail, it's because I don't want catenarys on my local passenger line.. :/
Challenger2 28 Mar, 2020 @ 3:13am
Is there any way to get the 3rd rail to appear in stations, or do you have to manually place that via assets for looks? great mod btw.

@Gr1m
Cheers! Glad it jives. Looking forward to your mod :)
Green Ranger (aka Gr1m) 18 Mar, 2020 @ 5:36pm
TBH I was planning on doing an upcoming third rail train as functionally a diesel before this mod came along anyway, because otherwise a catenary would be required and it'd look odd. So tbh I think the logic is sound behind the decision.
Agohonoh  [author] 18 Mar, 2020 @ 10:52am
@SlimNasty
That's a good point. I've been meaning to clean up the descriptions for both the mods anyways. I'll get around to that soon.
SlimNasty™ 17 Mar, 2020 @ 6:06pm
Might be worth naming these non-electrified seen as you still need to use overhead lines, I think calling these Electrified may confuse people that don't read the description.
villavine10 17 Mar, 2020 @ 11:40am
@kidoshino Thanks for informing me about this mod, ima abuse the crap out of it in my map.
Agohonoh  [author] 17 Mar, 2020 @ 11:27am
@MKH1020
Scrolling through the comments of Killakanz's 3rd rail mod it looks like they used the method of replacing the catenary supports with the 3rd rail model because his mod still does the stair thing when it comes to slopes. Because I implemented it as actually part of the track model it conforms to slopes, but doesn't stop at the crossings. It's a trade off but I think it's worth it because if you're building a metro there's probably a lot of slopes!

For making the 3rd rail electric, I made a discussion post on this mod to explain my logic behind it. but I'm still open to change. I mention it in the discussion post, but it seems like existing 3rd rail EMUs on the workshop are rendered as diesel right now. We'll see where it goes!
MKH1020 17 Mar, 2020 @ 8:13am
Considering that most third rail EMUs will probably be relesed electrified. Wouldn't it be better to have the rail electric and add a new type of track that will be considered electrified but will not have assets? also I remember Killakanz's old TpF1 third rail stopping at crossings.

villavine10 16 Mar, 2020 @ 10:01pm
New York 3rd rail? Would be nice to see
babylon218 16 Mar, 2020 @ 6:42pm
Ah, okay. That makes more sense.
Agohonoh  [author] 16 Mar, 2020 @ 6:22pm
@babylon218
The rails aren't actually electrified. It's actually an non-electrified rail that just has this cosmetically. Probably should be more clear about that in the description. The trade-off is that you can have a catenary above the rail as well as the 3rd rail.
babylon218 16 Mar, 2020 @ 6:13pm
Hold on, if you break the level crossing like that so the conductor rail stops short, won't that break the pathfinding for any EMUs, since the track over the crossing won't be electrified? Or am I misunderstanding?
