It needs to be updated. there is a black screen at the entrance. textures are not loaded. the gate is in place but is poorly visible

So I gave it a try, no idea if it is hard coded into the mod or what not but I feel like cutting existing gate (especialy the main highway one) is weird... maybe use other inactive gate instead?
Having no sun is pitch black, I had a station being build by ennemy faction and wanted to attack the build storage to steal the ressources and couldn't see a thing so not great (maybe only an issue for me) so maybe have a low light instead (vanilla Oort Cloud is 2%) so solar are pretty much useless but could still see?

Alternatively, could you have some form of image or description of which sectors were cut off?

When you activate this mid game the gates will seem like they're open but they're not connected to anything. Just a fair warning a lot of sectors you used to go to and they're pathing is now been changed.

Just finished the expanse, this is awesome! Cannot wait to use this in a new playthrough. Do you have any plans on creating a rocinante ship? I've been thinking about learning modding to try to make it

I simply set the parameter for it. Only the game decides whether it actually happens. That's out of my hands.

hi i know u said that the ai can take over sectors but will they ? i don't see why they would if there is nothing of of value ? the ai is not very smart ya know... have u tested it and seen it happen in game?

It only happens in a special region that I don't explicitly explain further in the above description so people can discover it themselves.

@knightphabton429: no you don't, and a kill barrier is a region in space considered no-go by developers, so you get killed when you fly there.

@Rodrigo: The books/show this is inspired by has this many. Simple as that.

Also, because they all have unique names, modders can add connections if they want to.

You can check out the code on Nexus as that version isn't packed. I must warn you though, the file containing the code to add the gates is absolutely massive because it is auto-generated with a tool I wrote.

Why are there sooo many inactive jump gates? Is it possible to remove some of them, or how can i edit the files to make less of them?

Back when I was playing around with the idea of putting a gate there, I tried. The problem is that the structure counts as a "planet" so to speak, and when you fly close to objects that are massive, the game seems to automatically add the death zone so people don't fly into the scenery I guess.

Unclear, I haven't mapped it out. I just made sure the gate is fairly far away from it. Also, AI doesn't die in it, only the player.

All I did was put a gate in there. I did not edit it. Its more of an easter egg than anything else. I thought about putting the gate on the other end of the structure, away from the sun, but yeah haha.

I'll keep this in the back of my mind should I work on this again. Glad someone found it though haha :D

If there is one, let me know haha. I am also looking into adding a super bright light source to my fusion reactor mod, but I am no pro modeller nor mod creator.

My ideal plan would be to have a blue glowing station in the center, I am really not sure how to do so though. Would love if someone wants to help me out with that :)

Is there a way to make the sector not so pitch black? or maybe is there another mod that adds glow to ships? Don't get me wrong I like the idea of the sector being dark but not so dark that I can't see anything and keep crashing into other ships.

There was a problem when gates "realigned" with each update or addition of gates in existing save games. Gate connections now have a unique name for every update and will "replace" the old gates. This is the only clean method I could figure out so that I can safely add new gates or reorder them - the downside being that they technically become "new gates", hence players need to re-discover them.

If the player already has some AI ships flying around using them, this won't be that big of a deal as they simply reroute and fly as usual, automatically "rediscovering" them with their radar. I hope this isn't a too big of a inconvenience for anyone. If you can think of a better method or know MD script, please hit me up on the Egosoft discord.

There's currently 11 gates you can reach easily, and one not so easy hidden one. I purposely didn't mention where they are to make this a bit more exciting.

If you look up where the Sol gate is in the books/show, you'll immediately know which sector. And then it's just a matter of using a long range scan.

Another easy to find gate would probably be in Second Contact VII. :)

The reason for this is that the gates aren't active. They're rendered active from a further distance though. Only at about 60km distance or so does the game decide between an active and inactive gate, thus making it dark. There's sadly no way around it except to maybe adding a new gate model myself.

I think I've found a way to describe it. Once I approach a gate so that my radar can recognize and lock it, the gate frame will no longer glow, while other gate in the distance glow and can be recognized as normal.

Hi, I don't know what's going on, but just in this sector, my ship seems to be surrounded by a pure black mosaic that prevents me from seeing anything. I'm not sure if it's because there's no light at all and it affect shaders or rendering or something like that.
